"Overpowered" Warframes and why its okay

    Posted: 23 Jan 2019 06:50 PM PST

    TL;DR at the end.

So in the past couple months and especially with the release of Mesa Prime access a lot of people are back on the topic of some warframes simply being to powerful. I won't deny that some warframes are better than others and some are very strong, however this is okay. I personally feel the game is about a power fantasy and mowing down enemies while attempting to maintain a blood-free syandana is really the core premise of the game overall, but there is a more real reason as well. So I digress.

Warframes become so powerful with investment by using time or money to gather resources. As an example I will use one of my favorite frames and one that is generally the target of this controversy, Mesa.

This is my mesa build and her regulators. Looks fairly standard I imagine and most people see this and think nothing of it. But there is a significant amount of investment in these screenshots. To begin lets look at the investment of using the mods. Please note the investment will be looked at using only PUG matches, as this is how I mainly play the game.

    Mesa Mods Table

    Mod Name Acquisition Location Endo
    Corrosive Projection Alert 620
    Mesa's Waltz Syndicate 210
    Primed Flow Baro Ki'teer 40920
Narrow Minded Orokin Vault 7650 (R8)
    Constitution Alert/Nightmare 210
    Streamline Many 930
    Fleeting Expertise Orokin Vault 930
Quick Thinking Corrupted Ancient .03% Chance 930
    Primed Continuity Baro Ki'teer 40920
Blind Rage Orokin Vault 3810 (R7)
    Hornet Strike Many 20460
    Lethal Torrent Alert/Nightmare 930
    Barrel Diffusion Many 930
    Primed Target Cracker Baro Ki'teer 10200 (R8)
Primed Pistol Gambit Baro Ki'teer 40920
    Convulsion Many 620
    Pathogen Rounds Many 620
    Pistol Pestilence Corrupted Vor 210

    Acquisition

Many veteran players will recognize the acquisition location and think, "Yup, that is a mod I could easily farm and get at that location." However, everyone needs to remember many of these locations require a significant amount of investment to be able to do without much issue. Some of these are time gated such as things you buy from Baro, but fighting Corrupted Vor, leveling a syndicate all the way, Orokin Vaults, and etc. You need to be fairly well geared to accomplish. Remember this is just mod acquisition (RX denotes a mod at rank X).

    Ranking Up Mods

Just to rank up mods on my build for just Mesa and her regulators it costs me 172,020 endo and some amount over 7 million credits. Keep in mind, some of my mods are not even max rank. To many veterans that may not seem like a lot, but by golly it is. Lets take what is probably the best farm for endo and credits in the game and see how long this could take to acquire.

Assuming a nice even 1300 endo reward from every interval of an Arbitration it will take roughly 22 hours straight to get enough endo for just the mods required for my current build.

Assuming a mid level index run takes 5 minutes and not counting the entrance fee, a player can expect to get 7 million credits in around 3 hours and 20 minutes which admittedly, doesn't sound too bad but I did not do the math to get the actual total credits needed and know it is of a degree higher but I did not want to overestimate.

Keep in mind, these are both end game activities where you almost already need a very strong build to even be able to do.

    Mod Use

Using each mod now requires enough capacity just to put on your equipment after acquisition and leveling them up. The only way you are able to fit so many high ranking mods on your equipment is to use forma. Forma will let you change a mod slot to a different polarity, which reduces the cost of mods of a matching polarity by half. To use forma your equipment must be rank 30, and using one will reset the equipment rank to 0. This means it has to be re-leveled. The fastest way to do this is to run Sanctuary Onslaught. My Mesa has 4 forma and my regulators have 3 forma.

Ideally, you would stay to wave 8 and some one else on your team would be playing saryn to give you affinity to level. However, this is not always the case. Please remember that in the scenario I am talking about we are playing public lobbies. You often do not get a "kill" frame to massacre the enemies while you receive the affinity, you don't always even make it to round 8. Lets say on average to get to level 30 it may take 45 minutes which I think is rather generous. Now both Mesa and her regulators will level relatively at the same time so we can safely say the time just for leveling your equipment is around 3 hours.

    But Wait, There's More

Currently we are at a staggering 28 hours and 20 minutes of straight farming gameplay with no breaks between to get to where the base build is. And with just that, you will still sometimes just die. How do I attempt to keep that from happening? Arcanes and Focus.

As you can see in the Mesa build I have some higher ranked arcanes equipped. Not even super rare ones. Just okay ones. How does one get Arcanes? By capturing the Eidolon Trio. But a player can't possibly be useful in those fights without a better amp. So now you need to level up the Quills Syndicate to get amp parts. However, it still doesn't really do a lot of damage to the bigger Eidolons' shields. You'll have to use the Maduri focus school's Void Strike combined Zenurik's Void Flow Way-Bound passive to increase your amp damage significantly. But, you also need to be able to break the Eidolons' limbs. So you will need a build similar to these for Rhino and a Vectis. These both require even more endo and credits to acquire to add onto the amount above.

Why do I use Quick Thinking for my build? It is because I am generally capped out on energy because I have a lot of investment in my Zenurik focus school. So I have access to both a max rank Energizing Dash and Energy Pulse. Sometimes this is still not enough to keep me alive. So I have two max rank sets of Magus Elevate on my operator. This requires max rank with cetus, full progression through Plains of Eidolon fishing, the takedown of at least 60 Eidolon Teralysts, hours of mining, days of Quills reputation, and farming tons of oxium using Nekros.

While thinking about this keep in mind that just the focus nodes I talked about cost around 4 million focus. That is days of farming for hours for weeks.

    Closing and TL;DR

Veteran players have spent time or money and invested into their equipment. This often comes in the form of weeks or months of game play. Moving from one grind system to the other because the prior was required. Naturally players that have invested so significantly into there equipment will be powerful, and that is okay.

PS: Sorry for long post and getting lazy with math near the end.

The amount of people leeching Bounties in this game is insane

    Posted: 23 Jan 2019 11:37 AM PST

    Hello,
Please for the love of God/Lotus/whatever add a way to kick people or autokick if not participating in bounty objectives.
Yes, there is a solo option but this is an MMO, not a singleplayer game and a way to kick people straight up leeching and laughing in your face while doing it should be an option.
Also, just to clear, I don't mind people mining/fishing for a bit cause they just randomly got Smeeta buff but straight up afking 4/5 bounties then coming at last one, dying and laughing at you meanwhile is straight up a horrible experience.
    Sorry for the rant.

    Fortuna: Hotfix 24.2.10

As mentioned back in June 2018, Warframe's Minimum Supported Specs will change to Windows 7, 64-bit operating systems, and DirectX 10 capable graphics cards in mid-February 2019.

    More info here: https://forums.warframe.com/topic/1052232-psa-minimum-supported-specs-changes-in-february/

    Magnum Force Changes:

    • Increased Damage from +66% to +165% (at max rank).
    • Increased Accuracy reduction from -33% to -55% (at max rank).

    Changes:

    • Increased the Physique Aura Mod from providing +18% Health to +90% Health (at max rank).
    • Increased the accuracy of the Brakk.
    • Increased the accuracy of the Kohmak/Twin Kohmak.
    • Sentient Mimics have updated their cognitive thinking and will now take on the proper form of the newly re-meshed Corpus Lockers.

    • Improvements towards where the Rescue Target can be told to stop and take cover in the Lua tileset.
    • Improvements towards pathing issues when fighting the Ambulas in the Corpus Outpost.

    Fixes:

    • Fixed some rare cases of getting stuck in the Fortuna/Cetus elevator when returning to the town after a Host migration.
    • Fixed DirectX 10 not rendering FX in various places including the Plains of Eidolon/Orb Vallis and Relays.
    • Fixed inability to equip Ruinous Extension on the Ocucor.
    • Fixed being able to equip Stance Mods in any slot and any Mod in the Stance slot for Garuda Talons and unequip Mods that break these rules.
    • Fixing (again) spin attacks not working on controller unless you wait 0.15 seconds after pressing slide (not breaking toggle-sprint this time).
    • Fixed inability to use the Scanner as the Operator.
    • Fixed your Warframe floating in the Arsenal when exiting the Mod Upgrade screen (through the Exalted Weapon) quickly.
    • Fixed that one extraction cinematic on Earth where the Warframe mounts the ship on an angle. You know the one.
    • Fixed Liset customization not loading in on time when flying into a mission.
    • Fixed inability to Chat link Crisma Toroids.
    • Fixed the Stug's projectiles interacting physically with ragdolls.
    • Fixed some AI potentially getting stuck in their landing jump state which prevents them from being able to move from that point on.
    • Fixed Inaros' Devour not working for enemy / allied Inaros AI (Specters).
    • Fixed certain Wyrmius rewards appearing as filepaths.
    • Fixed certain Warframe ability FX not appearing when in the Orokin Derelict extraction area.
    • Fixed Nidus' Passive description claiming it uses 10 Mutation Stacks when it uses 15 Mutation Stacks when playing Warframe in Portuguese.
    • Fixed incorrect punctuation in certain subtitles during the Second Dream Quest.
    • Fixed broken tags in the Venari Bodyguard Mod that were broken in a few languages (German, Polish, Chinese).

Meeting New Players isn’t always bad.

    Posted: 23 Jan 2019 05:12 PM PST

Strap in because this may be a long one. TLDR at bottom.

A few days ago I was playing Warframe and decided my credits were a bit too low and figured I'd run High Index with some randoms before my 3 day booster ran out. Like most people I decided to use recruit and hopped into the first team I saw recruiting and surprise surprise they actually invited me to an Xbox live party which is very uncommon.

Immediately I noticed they were all fairly new, two Mr10's running energy heavy frames with pretty shite weapons, but there was also an MR6 who joined just after me and the two 10's almost immediately shouted at him to leave and that he couldn't do this content and that he probably couldn't kill a level 60. Normally I would have just left but these players frustrated me so I called them out and they countered back that they could handle the two waves because they could kill up to level 75 enemies. After hearing this I realized they were acting very elitist considering the fact that neither of them had good weapons or frames for the index and yet they still called out this lower level player (who I later learned had a pretty damn good rhino build with a decent weapon).

After that bit of discourse I left, invited the MR6 and carried him through 4 or 5 runs getting him more than 2 million credits. We talked and he was actually getting ready to quit the game since no one ever allowed him to join and he didn't understand the game. I had quite a bit of free time so I had him look through his locker and tell me what he had. After about 4 hours together I had gotten his rhino decked out completely with a few forma I gifted him and the mods he needed to get an overall good build capable of dashing for over 30k armor and traded him the mods and gifted him more forma so he could deck out his Hek shotgun with a nice blaze corrosive build which as we tested can carry him through level 100 enemies.

It was a fun time helping him and nice to know that we got another dedicated player now. Just figured I'd share this story cause it made me happy helping him out. And if you are one of those players who only ever play with the best of the best on easy content, just stop and help others out. Unless you're running endurance arbitration's or 4-5x3 hunts you can afford to help people out.

TLDR; New player got bullied for being new, I helped him get setup to hold his own in most content. Be nice, you don't need a god squad for 99% of content.

Edit: My gamertag on Xbox is Lithent If you need any help.
