    Arbitrations revisited

    Hail Tenno.

Your path has led here. Prove yourself.

Arbitrations have existed in Warframe for just over 6 months - these endgame mission variations put new twists on our tried-and-true mission formula, offering players a level of challenge they cannot find anywhere else in the game. Now that we have had time to observe how these missions fare in players' hands, we have prepared some tweaks meant to address common complaints with the mode.

The most polarizing of these issues is Arbitrations' lack of revives. Adding real consequences to death was somewhat of a new sensation in Warframe, and while we would like to retain some of that tension, the fact of the matter is that being dead is not fun. Permadeath also caused issues with host migration, since a dead host may be inclined to leave early, potentially throwing squadmates into disarray. Therefore, we will be implementing a new system where dead players can be revived - but your squadmates will have to earn it.

When these changes go live next week on PC (and consoles in the near future), the rules of Arbitration death will be a little different: players are still killed with no bleedout timer, but a revive tower will be placed at the player's spot of death. If any squadmate is awaiting revive, the Arbitration drones will begin dropping unique pickups known as a "Resurgence Burden". These pickups function similar to Index points (otherwise known as "Financial Stress"), debuffing the players who carry them.

    Picture

In order to revive a player, 5 of these Resurgence Burdens must be taken to their tower simultaneously. These 5 pickups can be delivered by one or multiple squadmates, but cannot be "dropped off" at the tower - it's all or nothing!

    Video

We hope that this system bridges the gap between players who crave hardcore consequences, and those who were put off by the prospect of permadeath. Since this shifts the mission balance in favor of players, we plan to compensate by making enemies scale at the rate they do in other mission (instead of the reduced rate of scaling that Arbitrations have now).

Finally, we wanted to give players who have already mastered Arbitrations a reason to come back. Therefore, we will be adding a new reward mentioned long ago - Archgun Rivens will be available for purchase using Vitus Essence! Expect a few new cosmetic rewards as well.

Thanks everyone for reading - we hope you look forward to revamped Arbitrations.

You are on the verge of a new truth. May this help your journey.

Ash Prime is my favorite Warframe and here's why

    Posted: 18 Apr 2019 09:11 AM PDT

Ash himself is kind of meh. He looked into the mirror and decided that he should do something about it. So this motherfucker went to Tenshin's Gym. Smokey Boy got fucking swole.

Ash Prime has still kind of meh invisibility but who cares when all he needs is that short time. His invisibility literally DISCOUNTS HIS OTHER ABILITY COSTS (Bladestorm only apparently BUT STILL)

His shuriken literally has infinite punch through and does hella damage. It may seem small but it's an automatic slash proc and GUESS WHAT HIS PASSIVE DOES OH YEAH THAT'S RIGHT INCREASE THE DURATION OF SLASH PROCS. So you know what that means? HUNTER MOTHERFUCKING MUNITIONS IS LONGER.

His teleport is just badass. Make fun all you want but stealth multipliers are INCREASED. YOU LIKE SKIATIJI??? THAT UMBRAL NIKANA? YEAH THAT SHIT TURNS YOU INVISIBLE ON ALL FINISHERS. Which means you can GET DISCOUNTS. That's right. If you're invisible you get energy discounts. Call him Darth Maul cause everything is HALF OFF.

Arcane Trickery is your best friend. Uh oh you went invisible TIME FOR BLADESTORM. When you literally are so fast that you kill everything by "nothing personal kid"ing it to death. That damage is like over 2k damage if you DON'T have an Umbral build.

Ash Prime also ditched the ant tweezer face and went fuckin Ninja God of Space in his prime variation. Look at that motherfucker he is badass. Those swole ass arms.

And it's confirmed that Ash Prime is Steve Sinclair himself.

Look at his bulge. Look at that crotch.

Now look at Steve's crotch which we all know is Crotch Prime.

If Ash Prime has the best and most anatomically accurate bulge out of every male frame, then the only thing we can confirm is that they are the same person. Have you seen Ash Prime and Steve Sinclair in the same room? I didn't think so.

Thanks for listeing to my CLEM Talk. May RNGesus be kind to all of you.

Permadeath isn't the problem. Arbitrations suck and will continue to suck until the actual issues with them are addressed.

    Posted: 18 Apr 2019 08:05 PM PDT

The idea behind Arbitrations is great. It's a difficult permadeath game mode that provides good rewards after completing the star chart, but there are two major issues with the execution.

THE DRONES - Arbitration drones are a core feature of Arbitrations as a games mode. It seems that their intended purpose is to provide a challenge for players. The problem is that they just don't they're a non-threat. They do however severely limit the players choice of Warframe. Any frame that doesn't have survivability that's granted by self buffing is effectively out of the picture for Arbitrations. Considering most of the mission types in Arbitrations don't require anything specific that means that the meta for these missions is incredibly stale and unvaried. You play Inaros, Rhino, or maybe Gara if you need to defend something because they're the least likely to die. Arbitration drones need new mechanics that actually test the player rather than limiting their choices.

THE ROTATIONS - This is the second issue with Arbitrations. The doubled timed to get a reward, make these missions feel like an unrewarding slog. While the ABCCCCC... rotation order is great, but it takes 30 minutes in survival to get to your first rotation C. Most players don't want to spend that long in a single mission especially when the rewards for doing so are mediocre. Endo, the primary reason to play Arbitrations can be farmed much faster in Rathuum and while rewarding Ayatans may seem like a good idea at first it quickly becomes a strictly worse than getting endo due to the rarity of Ayatan stars. There's only one mission type where this isn't the case. Excavation arbitrations are the only type I play anymore. While Gara is by far the best choice with no real due to the low and non-scaling health of the excavators it's the only arbitration game mode with a decent reward schedule. With a decent squad, you get a reward every 3-5 minute (in addition to Cryotic). Excavation Arbitrations are actually my current favorite game mode in warframe as they're the only game mode that feels like it rewards high skill with good rewards. In my opinion, the key to fixing the other arbitration game modes isn't to just shorten the timer but to make give them more unique and challenging mechanics that give you rewards faster for engaging with them. For example, DE could add pickups similar to the ones in Kuva survival that you drop into the life support towers to speed up the mission but also increase the enemy level and spawn rate.

TL;DR - Arbitration missions in their current state are a boring slog that limit player choices and aren't actually challenging.

Lotus or Ordis to give warning when objective has x% HP left (defense/mobile defense missions)

    Posted: 18 Apr 2019 11:17 AM PDT

Yesterday the 4 of us (PUG) were scouring the corpus-tile map for medallions on a low-level mobile defense syndicate mission. We got 7 out of 8 and on the 3rd terminal. Suddenly the mission failed. Somehow no one was tending to the terminal and the enemies destroyed it. There was no warning.

That was a waste of time.

It would be nice if Lotus or Ordis or whomever could give a warning either verbally or visually that the terminal:

-has x% HP left, such as <=50% then another at <=25%

-has more than 3 enemies within x radius then another when more than 5

    Thoughts?

    Thanks.
