    Relic UI Changes & Fixes:

Since the selective UI Screen rework brought in Update 25, we've gathered much of your feedback to how its functionality, clarity, and visibility can be improved on. Below are just a few of those proposed changes/fixes with more to come later.

    • Added shimmer material to Relic rarity bars to draw attention to them, more specifically, for the Reward choice screen during endless Void Fissure missions but will appear in all places with the rarity bars (info popup, Reward choice, Relic Manager, etc).
    • Increased the scale of the Relic rarity bar icons in the Relic Reward choice screen to 125%.
    • Hovering over the Rarity bars in the Relic Reward choice screen will now show a tooltip indicating the Rarity (Common/Uncommon/Rare).
    • Moved the item info popup below the Relic reward items in the Reward choice screen so that hovering over a reward does not cover other rewards.
    • The UI message indicating that you have attempted to equip an unowned Relic for a Void Fissure mission no longer shows a 'cancel' option, since it's redundant with the other option of 'ok'.
    • Changed the Relic Manager menu "sort by Rank" to "sort by Refinement".
    • Fixed the Relic tab reverting back to 'All' after Refining a Relic in a different tab (Meso, Axi, etc).
    • Fixed color indication not appearing when selecting a Relic Reward in a non-endless Void Fissure mission.
    • Fixed Relic Reward grid items being vertically too close together, causing the rarity bars to overlap or just be closer to the above items than the item they are representing

This is a joke, right? WE HATE THE RARITY BAR so you make it a couple pixels larger and add pointless shimmer effect to it? No color coded text like the old UI that we actually asked for? No indication of whether we actually own the fucking thing without having to hover over it, like we actually asked for? Just a touch up to a shitty little UI element that only bitterly reminds us of what you've taken away. That is what you got out of our feedback? Ordis, preserve us, if this is a taste of what's to come from our feedback.

    DE, what the fuck?

A more thorough critique of this bollocks is in this post by Tietaka. They're much more polite than I am and go over everything that is wrong with this current relic UI. Please actually listen to this feedback, DE. Stop giving us an aneurysm every time we see "UI" mentioned in the patchnotes.

    EDIT:

    The Jovian Concord: Hotfix 25.1.1

    Relic UI Changes:

The team has put together another chunk of UI changes to address your common suggestions. More to come as we continue to read your feedback!

    • Added the "owned" label back - but instead of it reading as 'x5' it is now '5 Owned'. This will allow you to quickly see how many of a given Relic item you have at the selection screen at a glance (like before).
    • Added Alias' (both yours and squadmates) to the Reward selection screen so that it's clear who is picking which Reward (yourself included) and where the bonus Void Traces are going.
    • Moved the Reward rarity bars below the items in both the Reward screen and Relic Refinement screen to better emphasize the relationship between the item and its rarity in hierarchy.
    • Moved the Void Traces information to be directly below the Refinement options for better visibility in the Refinement screen.
    • Moved selected Relic display as far up as it can comfortably be, as to not overlap the items with the tooltip.
    • Centered item info popup on Reward items and squad Relics instead of being aligned to the left.

Better. Much better. If you had started off with this then this thread wouldn't exist. Don't make it seem like we have to shame you into doing a good job, DE, because we pretty much know we have to at this point. Also, cough, when are we getting Univac?

Why Doesn't Sanctuary Onslaught Give Cephalin Simarus Rep?

    Posted: 06 Jun 2019 07:42 PM PDT

I don't see why it wouldn't give us rep, seeing how it's his sanctuary and all, and I am sick and tired of stealth scanning 100 enemies per mission to get a decent amount of rep. I love Sanctuary onslaught, I would love more incentive like this to play it.

    Source!

    General Additions

    • Deactivated Gas City Corpus Laser Doors during Invasions to prevent them mis-firing when you're supporting the Corpus.

    Relic UI Changes

The team has put together another chunk of UI changes to address your common suggestions. More to come as we continue to read your feedback!

    • Added the "owned" label back - but instead of it reading as 'x5' it is now '5 Owned'. This will allow you to quickly see how many of a given Relic item you have at the selection screen at a glance (like before).

    Changes

    • Wolf Creds still in your inventory can now be sold for 5K Credits.
    • Hordes of enemies no longer attack players who are trying to extract individually in the Disruption gamemode. This prevents potential Amalgams from running away from the players who are choosing to stick around and fight.
    • Made numerous performance optimizations to the Disruption gamemode.

    Ropalolyst Fixes

    • Fixed a Host migration during the ground stage causing the weak links to be indestructible when fight the Ropalolyst.
    • Fixed Host/Clients becoming stuck with a black screen after falling off of level during the Ropalolyst fight.

    Limbo Rift Fix:

    • Fixed most Auras not reacting to changes in Rift-Status:
      • Banishing an Eximus enemy will remove its Aura from enemies out of the Rift, eg: if you Banish a Venomous Eximus and stay out of the Rift it won't be able to hit you with its Toxin Aura, or if you Banish an Ancient Healer it won't be able to protect its allies left behind. ( Note this does not apply to the Corrosive Projection, Shield Disruption and EMP Auras.)

    Fixes

    • Fixed the Hydrolyst and Gantulyst being affected by abilities that the Teralyst is immune to (e.g. Magus Anomaly).
    • Fixed a soft-lock when viewing Simaris' Offerings.
    • Fixed edge-case crash where the Client managed to abort mission after his session was destroyed.
    • Fixed a script error that could occur when entering Orbiter Decoration mode from pause menu.
    • Fixed a script error that could happen if you joined a mission just as a Syndicate Standing reward was given.
    • Fixed issues that occurred when items had accumulated more than 4 billion XP.
    • Fixed Corpus Gas City Laser Gate randomization (it was never randomizing at all before in procedural levels).
    • Fixed missing collision on a ledge in the Gas City Defense tileset.
    • Fixed dark lighting sections in the Gas City tileset.
    • Fixed the Kasha Kavat Armor not using emissive colors.
    • Fixed Kavat tails not applying the chosen Energy colors.
    • Fixed the Nyx Graxx Helmet Energy color not applying.
    • Fixed Pax Seeker bolts appearing default Energy colour for Clients.
    • Fixed Energy colors on Nikana sheathes not being applied in mission.
    • Fixed the Thanatos Sugatra not sitting correctly on most weapons.
    • Fixed Khora Mithra Skin having material inconsistencies when switching her Attack, Protect, and Heal postures.
    • Fixed the Hydroid Karkinos dangly tentacles being disjointed from the Helmet.
    • Fixed the medallion dangle on the Valkyr Leonessa Helmet.
    • Fixed viewing certain Chat linked Skins not displaying the chosen UI Themed background or a diorama.

NPCThrowGrenadeWeapon Hijinks Part 2: reminder that grenades and Bombard rockets badly need a redesign

Hello there, Substance20 here with a gentle reminder for DE that these explodey things still need to be looked at and possibly redesigned for better visibility, because as it is they can hardly be noticed.

WARNING: there are a lot of images here to load so be warned!

This time, we're going to take a look at Corpus and Corrupted Grenades, They both use the same Plasma Grenade model, which unlike the drab-colored Grineer grenade with the tiny red dot on top is a kind of high-tech thingy with light blue decals:

Found during a Corpus Invasion alert. I already zoomed in and it was still tiny.

Corrupted plasma grenade, same model as the Corpus one, but with more...Orokin stuff...I guess.

Corrupted plasma grenade on the grille floor tile. Good luck trying to spot the thing normally.

Attempted size comparison. It's rather telling that I got distracted by my Arca Plasmor's energy cell and failed to see the grenade on the right. BTW, the 50% size difference is a conservative estimate; from what I've seen the Plasmor cell is almost TWICE as big.

    Bonus: Bombard Rockets

Ever got killed from out of nowhere by an explosion to the solar plexus? Well good luck trying to see where it comes from, because I did and it took me 2 missions to finally get a decent screenshot of the Bombard rockets themselves. They can be shot down, yes, but good luck with that too because take a look:

The Cyberdemon and Revenant rockets in Doom were far, FAR more visible than this flying suction bulb. Also, check the barely visible smoke trail, although my lowered graphics settings may be to blame.

It was a lot harder to see without the rift's cel shading filter. These things are quite fast, took me a number of tries with Nezha before I gave up and just decided to take Limbo.

Corrupted Bombard rocket. Slightly more visible than the normal counterpart, but for some reason it's translucent and has a much thinner trail. The bad part is my energy color is the same as this thing.

    ENDNOTE

I'm one of those guys who treat Warframe as an audiobook/podcast game: just lower the volume or turn it off, fire up an audiobook or livestream / talk show and mow down a few baddies. I will also often run with a perma-stealth Ivara to farm relics in Void Survival or clear an Extermination mission without much stress, apart from Nullifiers or Nox (who can somehow still see my INVISIBLE sentinel and shoot it, killing me in the process--but that's a different beast).

Now, most cloaking in Warframe also muffles sound effects; this includes the grenade beep warning noise. So imagine my face when a grenade blew up somewhere in my vicinity and instantly one shotted me.

DE, please fix the grenades. Other games like Borderlands and Call of Duty tend to have very visible grenades with flashing lights, AoE markers and even HUD elements telling the player where the grenades are. Yes, I can hear the naysayers going "bUt iT mAkEs ThE gAmE M0Re rEaLiStIc!!!1". Yeah, yeah. Well listen up:

Warframe is NOT a game I play for "REALISM".

If I wanted a "realistic" experience, I'll go sign up for the Army and have myself shipped off to Syria or someplace with a lot of fighting. But this is a GAME, and I play it to have fun.

Warframe isn't a perfect game. I don't think anything is in this life. But it's a good game and I really like it; the problem is it's got a lot of tiny warts that, when accumulated, tend to make the experience much more frustrating for all concerned. The damage bug that can instakill Nezha, Nidus and Inaros even through their defenses, the ridiculous UI rework that made everything more confusing, Arbitrations being unnecessarily long, bad boss design, loot mechanics and enemy scaling that end up forcing players to resort to certain metas (as a D&D player once noted: metagaming is a sure sign that something is wrong with your game because it's an effort by the players to create solutions to inconvenient problems)...

We could go on and on but if these little things aren't dealt with, in the end they will destroy the game you have worked so hard to create. And the last thing I want to see is Warframe go down the same path World of Warcraft took--a path that led it towards greater and greater irrelevance.

Move away Sentients, for I've become Beach Ball, Destroyer of Frames.

    Posted: 06 Jun 2019 07:11 AM PDT

Together with a friend, I was testing the Cyanex in the Simulacrum with Nyx. Then I activated friendly fire for... science. So I was in my absolute defense mode with Absorb, bullying him, until he picked up Atlas. And petrified me.

So I became a stone. A giant, round stone. After a while the effect wore off, but that was only the beginning. My accelerated evolution continued until I transformed into the ultimate life form, a grey beach ball. Invulnerable, and capable of the sneakiest takedowns, a killer of absolute precision and grace... But my newly found physical prowess is nothing compared to the arcane powers that I have acquired: when he tried petrifying me again, like the cowardly scoundrel he is, my majestic ballness reflected unto his operator Atlas' puny magic trick. Truly, I am... Inevitable.

    Witness me, mortals.

Lack of Nitain right now is a bigger problem than many of us realize.

    Posted: 06 Jun 2019 07:06 PM PDT

Having no way for a newer player to obtain Nitain is a huge block to many players' preferred methods of progression. It steals the desire to play; it interrupts the flow of learning and experimenting and growing. It causes frustration, and it drives some players away entirely.

Nitain is a component in more than 50 blueprints. Tenno need more than 150 nitain each to craft everything that requires it.

Between nightwaves, Nitain can only be farmed via ghoul bounties (4-6% drop chance), third sabotage cache on Desdemona, Uranus (2% drop chance), a few other sabotages on the third cache and a couple of exterminates (1% drop chance or less on most of those). Nightwave 1 ended on March 20th. It's been about two and a half weeks. For the sake or argument, let's say that it'll be at least three weeks in total between nightwave 1 and 2.

How is the current lack of Nitain affecting player progression and engagement? In light of the above, the answer seems obvious.

"But nitain is still farmable," you say. However, for these grinds, drop rates and enemy levels combined make it impossible for 95% of newer players to effectively farm any meaningful amount of nitain on their own.

"They should've stocked up," you say. However, for newer players who couldn't complete every nightwave challenge, the nitain was a mere trickle instead of a steady flow. New players also need potatoes and aura mods, further shrinking the amount of nitain they could be realistically expected to farm through nightwave. This amount may have been sufficient for a moderate building spree while nightwave was active, but it is not also sufficient to create a stockpile without a lot of time, a bit of luck, and some serious dedication and focus. Several of my clan members, from early game through mid-20s mr, have told me about respectable nitain stockpiles that have totally disappeared since the last nightwave.

"But this is a free game," you shout; "we are not entitled to constant nitain!" However, crafting is a core progression mechanic of this game, and nitain is designed to be one of the pain points. Mild scarcity is what made a nitain alert valuable and exciting, encouraging you to log in often in order to catch them. It is now a primary reason to grind nightwave, which introduces newer players to many other mission types and mechanics. But what happens when a constantly-needed resource goes from mildly scarce to unavailable, for three weeks? If you still have many cool things to build, but you have to put them on hold for this long, then you go from excited to frustrated over this resource.

Early game players may very well just up and quit because they can't build any of the lovely new frames or weapons that have caught their eye. Mid game players are going to see their habit of progression stalled out, DOA for three weeks or more, and may not log back in for a while. Later game players pursuing that mr goal or looking to grab a few more interesting weapons will become frustrated, probably after spending a lot of time grinding for nitain, and just grab their daily logins before going off to play something else until the next content drop.

This lack of a core progression resource can and will result in players losing interest, which is something that none of us want.

Now, I've presented the problem. Tenno, what are some possible - and reasonable - solutions? DE, do you have any sort of solution in the works, or a game plan to keep this from happening after nightwave 2?
