    Free Nekros Prime

    Posted: 10 Jun 2019 12:22 PM PDT

Watch the Tennocon stream on July 6th at 6 PM ET for a free Nekros prime, if you have your Warframe account linked to twitch. Even if you have Nekros prime you should watch it since, it gives you a free Warframe slot. You also get the lotus ephemera.

Not sure but, I have heard you need to watch at least 30 min straight

Does anyone else feel like build times are the biggest barrier of entry to Warframe for newbies? Everyone I've tried to introduce the game to seems put off enough by this mechanic to not bother with it anymore.

    Posted: 10 Jun 2019 05:42 AM PDT

I've searched through this subreddit before to gauge people's opinions on this and I realize that the sub seems strongly in favor of it, defending it as an additional source of revenue for DE, but I'd like to also question how much the game loses out because of this, and if it's actually worth it to still keep this as it is in the game. I don't even advocate for a removal of it, but perhaps at least a rework of the system so that new players don't feel like they're being punished with waiting right when they're starting the game.

Obviously this is completely anecdotal but I've tried introducing the game to a good few friends now and every time so far they're impressed by what I tell them about the game, they're impressed by the movement mechanics, by the vast amount of unique weapons/frames, the unique aesthetic of the game, but at the same time, without fail every time the topic of crafting comes up or they find out about it by themselves, they are massively disappointed and you can just hear it in their voices that their will to play pretty much disappears, it's actually an awkward thing, and it makes me feel like I was lying to them about the game, forcing me to defend it (When I don't even like the mechanic myself). They get a good taste of the game, look up some weapon or frame they want, start farming and then bam, they hit this wall that are the build times and their hype is stopped dead in its tracks. Some will put up with 12/24 hr build times for weapons but they'll usually quit once they realize they need to not only craft all the warframe parts and then wait for an additional 3 days to play them.

Now you may argue that indeed there's lots to keep you entertained for 3 days, especially when the game is new, but having your hype killed like that seems to just leave a bad enough taste in people's mouths that they just don't wanna bother with it anymore.

Has anyone else had this experience with introducing the game to new players?

EDIT: Just forgot to point out in the main post that I'm not entirely sure how things were when the game was initially released because I only started playing last year, but nowadays the game is filled with ways for people to spend the plat they buy. I bought it a few times now and so far have spent it on a handful of different things like all kinds of cosmetic items, prime frames/weapons, inventory slots, resource/affinity boosters, color palettes, and as everyone will tell you starting out, there's much better ways to spend your plat than on rushing things.

Two things that I feel are really underappreciated in tilesets

    Posted: 10 Jun 2019 06:03 PM PDT

Scripted events that occur as you enter a tile, and destructible environments. Stuff like a pillar collapsing in an Infested ship, the Ropalolyst blowing away chunks of the Gas City for no apparent reason, or shooting a barrel to blow up a window so you can pass through it.

Environmental interactivity like this really enhances the illusion that you are fighting in a living world instead of a series of static arenas that you are forced to fight in for all eternity in the vain pursuit of a purposeless stream of loot help me, which really helps the atmosphere. And while sometimes interactivity like this can be irritating (fragile-ass glass windows in Corpus ships), most of the time it doesn't hurt the flow of the game. I like how DE seems to have embraced environmental interactivity with the Gas City rework, and hope that the same will be done for some of the Grineer tilesets, which feel really static in comparision.

[DE]Glen is wrong about Banes. An enemy getting corrupted in a Void Fissure will stop receiving bonus damage from their original faction Bane, and starts receiving extra damage from Corrupted Banes.

    (response to https://www.reddit.com/r/Warframe/comments/byqvl6/de_glen_confirmed_that_corrupted_enemies_that/)

Video of testing Corpus Banes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUmTCDpX5Dc

Prisma Grakata, unmodded except for Primed Bane of Corpus. At 0:48 you can see it deal 24 damage non-crit on the shields of a Prod Crewman. When said Prod Crewman was corrupted, there was a 16 damage non-crit on its shields instead.

On a Corrupted Crewman (Strun wielders, not a fissure-corrupted Crewman), it dealt 16 damage non-crits on the shields as well.

Followup test on Corrupted Banes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9sZAt4EKQE

Same Prisma Grakata, unmodded except for Primed Bane of Corrupted.

At 0:40 a Crewman is slash procced for 5 damage per tick, after corruption the slash tick damage becomes 8. Damage against that Crewman's shields was also 16 non-crit before corruption, 24 after corruption.
