Should old-old-old Warframes get a "Prime Redo"?

    Posted: 17 Sep 2019 07:41 AM PDT

Comparing the earliest prime warframes to the latest ones is a really telling example in the evolution of the game's visual design. They have the same mesh and if there's any actual prime details, it's a splinter of gold like on their armpits or something. Ones like Frost are extremely telling because you can outright see the texture lines of his original skin on his prime. I'm so sick of his giant megaman boots too.

Do you feel like they should get a 'redo' and have a redesigned Prime to make them stand out more? And no, I'm not talking Umbras, I'm still on the boat of wanting those as well.

    New Dojo Room: Gardens

    Posted: 17 Sep 2019 11:46 AM PDT

Because quite frankly I'm tired of having to scan plants.

What if, like the regular research rooms we can get in a Dojo, we get a Garden in the dojo where we can grow the plants we need, and then once the garden is set up, we can just spend credits on it it to get the plants we need if we don't scan for it instead, much like how fieldron, mutagen masses, and detonite injectors can be researched and built instead of farmed off invasion missions?

Should DE start doing more constant minor balance tweaks to frames, mods and weapons?

    Posted: 17 Sep 2019 07:56 AM PDT

    Hi Tenno,

Full Disclaimer: I love a good full frame rework (except if it is a half-assed, uninspired one, like Nyx and Titania. Read Update 24.2) as it can reinvigorate an outdated frame into a new power category. Both Nezha and Wukong are great examples of frames that went from zero to hero after a rework.

Then of course, there are also several frames (like Vauban and Ember) that do require large scale reworks to bring them back into player favour, with no amount of numerical tweaks being enough to save them

Point being, full reworks of Warframes, and to some extent, weapons, companions, and mods are essential, but not the only way to improve the general balance of the game.

However, that's not what this post is about. This post is about the smaller things. The "add a little damage here" or "increase the range a bit there" things. The kind of tweaks that do not require a Mainline update, but can instead be casually dispersed with your average weekly hotfix. You know, throwing something small in there that could be enough to turn something formerly bad into something pretty decent.

There are tons of things in this game (especially mods) that don't require full mechanical reworks, and doing regular tweaks to everything that has become outdated (or as is sadly the case for many mods in Warframe, was simply dead on arrival) on a regular basis will not only help avoid heaps and heaps of useless content, but will also help player retention a bit. I know it isn't relevant to everyone, but myself and many other would definitely do some testing and toying around whenever DE rebalanced any mods/frames/weapons.

For the life of me, I don't understand why DE spends no real effort on tweaks like these. Sure there have been the odd Bow buff (Saint of Altra) or Spear Weapon Buff (Jovian Concord) but there are literal heaps of equipment we have that no one uses at all, and instead of tweaking them 2 mods a week, the pile is just keeps on growing and growing. Why?

Just three or four little lines every patch would go a LONG way to keep the trash pile that is our arsenals from piling up. Just as an example (obviously just an example to get the idea of what "small tweaks" should be, don't take them to heart):

    Warframe Tweaks

    • Garuda - Dread Mirror Orb now has a base explosion radius of 15m, up from 10m
    • Nyx - Absorb is now affected by Natural Talent, and base damage absorption buff duration increased to 20 seconds

    Weapon Tweaks:

    • Stug now has 25% base status chance, 35% on charged shots
    • Mutalist Quanta - Reload time decreased to 1.8 seconds

    Mod Tweaks:

    • Critical Deceleration - Critical Chance increased to 90%
    • Armored Agility - is now an Exilus Mod

One of the other major successful free to play titles I play is Path of Exile. I know the games aren't comparable in many ways, especially considering in POE, you generally start a new character with each 3 month content update. However, no matter what new content they add, EVERY one of those updates has a massive list of changes to old skills, items, and passive abilities. Even is something is tweaked to just do 20% more damage, that change can make something formerly dismissed now seem appealing.

    TL;DR version:

Full frame/equipment reworks are great, but some things don't need massive, mechanical reworks to make them viable, and would greatly benefit from regular, (I mean at least monthly, but ideally weekly) small numerical tweaks, that are low on development effort.

Thanks for reading, and share your thoughts!
