The biggest reason why the highest MRs use over 50% Catchmoon is because of Arbitration drones.

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 09:41 AM PDT

There is a line between difficulty and bullshit, and arbitration drones use that line as a jump rope. I think they're fine alongside Infested and Grineer enemies, but against Corrupted or Corpus enemies, they're an absolute nightmare...mainly because of nullifier bubbles and the number of flying drones just blocking shots.

The catchmoon not only does a ridiculous amount of damage, but its innate ability to just have its wave pass through enemies and then hit the arbitration drone is the main reason why everyone at high MRs uses it.

There's a huge difference between something being difficult, and something being frustrating, and Catchmoons helped mitigate the latter.

I 100% support the Catchmoon nerf...the gun is absolutely busted. But this means that the next weapon with large AOE/good Punch Through will just be the next weapon that a lot of high MR players use a ton. I think revisiting the balance of Arbitration drones would be the best way to promote more variety in the weapons used...because even though Catchmoon is overpowered, that is only part of the reason it is so widely used.

DE, even if you halve its range...Catchmoon will still see over 40% use at high MRs because it'll still be the best at killing those god forsaken drones.

This tac alert has the best-designed mission type in the game

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 04:47 PM PDT

    I'm not joking. You've got:

    1. High cell cohesion requirement. I.e. everyone must stick together or 75% won't be able to kill anything and the carrier won't have enough spawns going to them to keep the lantern lit.

    2. Sharp time-sensitivity. The lantern charge drains very quickly, such that ~5s without any enemies dying is enough to potentially fail the mission.

    3. It inherently incentivizes not just spamming a nuke ability or AoE weapon. This is not only because of the limited area where you can damage enemies, but because killing too fast wastes potential charge and a lull between groups can be enough to fail the mission. Instead you're encouraged to use mid-range abilities and good single-target weapons to keep a slow, steady flow of kills going.

It's challenging and requires player skill on multiple levels: the ability to select the right gear for a task, the ability to stick with the team, the ability to regulate how quickly you kill things, and the ability to think and act quickly with little warning if something goes wrong.

We need regular content like this.

The "Mod is installed on your sentinel weapon" conflict should not be such a recurring, persistent annoyance.

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 06:43 PM PDT

If you have the same mod equipped on your sentinel and on your weapon, the game will warn you and offer to automatically correct it. Allowing the game to correct it will swap out the mod on your sentinel with the highest ranked duplicate you have.

    Here's the problem with this.

I have 1 Deth Machine Rifle. I have 66 Primary rifles that use rifle mods. Every time I swap weapons, I get the conflict message and I have to "fix" the sentinel. Swap back to the previous rifle and again it's in conflict. This is further exacerbated any time a new primary comes out, and I happen to build, level, and mod it without having the associated sentinel weapon also equipped.

There are a number of ways to fix this.

1 - Change the correction function to favor the sentinel weapon. I'm not going to swap out my sentinel weapon every other mission and every other frame. Sentinel A gets gun A, and that's that. So having those mods be immutable while forcing the frame weapons to be corrected will eventually get all the frame weapons on the same page, and the errors will stop showing up.

2 - Allow mods to be tagged "sentinel" or "frame" or whatever, so that you can know when they're installed on something else, even when that thing isn't currently equipped.

3 - Do away with the stupid duplicate mod necessity entirely. It's nothing but a hassle, and doesn't contribute anything to the enjoyment of the game. You've already demonstrated the games capacity for this, thanks to Venari and many exalted weapons.
