Why can't we see Baruuk's damage reduction? This seems like important info to have available

Wasn't Hildryn supposed to be a test run for shield gating on all Warframes? What happened with that?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 09:22 AM PST

For those not aware, Hildryn has the following as part of her passive:

    1. If she loses all shields/overshields due to a single hit, none of the damage will carry over to her shields/health. If she has 20 shield remaining and she takes a hit for 1000 damage, she takes only 20 damage from that hit.

    2. When her normal shields are completely drained, she becomes invincible for 3 seconds. This cannot activate again until her shields regenerate to full.

    3. While she has active overshields, shield-piercing damage (toxin, slash) will not affect her health.

For a long time now, shields have been worthless for survivability, as they A. do not benefit from armor and B. can be bypassed by many enemies. You'd think that Warframes with damage reduction abilities such as Mesa, Gara, Gauss, Baruuk, Ember, etc. would prefer to use shields, as they don't suffer from problem A, but problem B means that health tanking is still the only option. The community has been asking for shield gating for a long time now*, and DE has indirectly played with the idea (Hildryn), but even after Adaptation was released (usable on any warframe, gives damage reduction to shields as well as health) shield tanking is still unusable on any frame but one. For the sake of build diversity, as well as all the poor neglected Mag players, I think the idea needs to be brought into development. Besides, wouldn't it be funny to see Harrow take Inaros' place as the premier tank frame?

*Shield gating comes in many forms, but point 1 is the main concept.

Make the catchable animals roam Orb Vallis like they do on Plains of Eidolon.

I don't remember if DE has ever said they'll do the same for Vallis but while doing mining for nightwave I noticed how dead Vallis feels and it made me a bit sad tbh. The animals on PoE really do help the area feel lived in and alive.

Use Kuva to Customize your Converted Lich

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 06:06 PM PST

Hello everyone, I'm new to the subreddit and I tend to stay on the official forums. I apologize if this suggestion was already done before.

This suggestion was inspired by a similar topic on the official forums, but I wanted to flesh it out and post it here. I love the new Kuva Lich system. All problems with it aside, it's been a great way to keep an MR27 player like myself invested in the game and engage in some new high level content which I felt this game has lacked for a long time. To commemorate the Old Blood update, I converted the first Lich I created into an ally. She may have a 50% cold damage Kraken, but she shall be the first Lich I convert and keep.

But I sure wish converted Liches were more useful. They only appear to spawn after you die once, stick around for a minute or two, then leave. I hoped they'd utilize the same abilities they had used against you, but now against the enemies you fight, but they don't. A lich ally with a Kuva Kraken really isn't something to write home about. I think Liches need more pizzazz, make those ex-nemeses into powerful allies.

    Answer: Kuva-based customization!

Kuva doesn't get a whole lot of uses beyond a couple crafts and Riven rerolls. Given its primary use and lore as early as the War Within, it's clear the stuff is a miracle compound that reforms whatever consumes it. It sure remade the Grineer Larvlings into the fearsome Lich. We should use this screaming red soup to keep remaking our Lich allies, awaken their abilities, expand their usefulness.

My idea is simple: Lich allies gain perks and a pool of perk points you can use to improve them with. As your Lich ranks up as an enemy, they unlock additional perks and points as an ally, encouraging players to rank them as high as possible and add more reward to the risks involved. In order to spend those perk points, you have to spend Kuva, with the cost based on both the perk you're investing in and how high that perk "tier" will become.

Here's a couple perk ideas I thought of:

    • Lich Spawn Chance
This removes the Lich from spawning after you die and instead makes it chance based throughout the mission. The more points you put into it, the more likely they spawn. In endless missions, this can increase the frequency in which they respawn! This perk can also determine the likelihood of your boosted Lich spawning over your other converted allies.
    • Lich Spawn Duration
Right now, Liches only stay for about a minute. If DE wishes for this to continue, that's okay, but this perk allows the player to determine how long they get to stay. Perhaps add an additional minute for every point spent, with incremental Kuva costs. Lich allies can't block other teammates' Lich (enemy or ally) from spawning.
    • Lich Ability Upgrades
Let's start with our allies having lost their abilities to cast their powers after you converted them. By upgrading this perk, you not only re-enable their abilities, but improve their casting frequency. Let those avalanches fall!
    • Thrall Envoys
What is a Lich without a thrall? Whenever your Lich spawns, they come accompanied by thralls, with their count staggered between tiers (ex. 1/1/2/2/3). The thralls behave like the ones you fight, except they die immediately if their health is reduced to zero, and despawn when the Lich leaves. This perk is locked out for Loner and Paranoid Liches.
    • Thrall Strength
So you now have a small squad of friends, but are they going to be like the other meat to be ground to protect you, or will they become the meatgrinders? Increasing the rank of this perk will determine the level of the thralls plus their access to the same abilities their Lich master uses (but cast less frequently). This perk is locked out for Loner and Paranoid Liches.
    • Lich Grapple Chance
Know what I thought was fun with having a Lich enemy? Sometimes they grab you, smack you upside the head a couple times, then throw you away, possibly into a pit. This perk unlocks their ability to grapple enemies and increases how often they perform this maneuver. They should have more emphasis on choosing strategic tosses, such as into enemy groups to knock them down, or throwing their victim off of cliffs to kill them.
    • Lich Finisher Chance
Finally, the Lich should be given the ability to just grab a random enemy and just break them over their knee like they've done to you countless times in the past! Their finisher frequency will be far longer compared to them grappling enemies, but will instantly kill any enemy they perform it on, and will prioritize targeting "high ranking" enemies like Infested ancients, Corpus nullifiers, Grineer Napalms, or those gosh-darn Energy Leech Eximus.

The order was taken from the initial Old Blood update post.

From brooding gulfs are we beheld

By that which bears no name

Its heralds are the stars it fells

    The sky and Earth aflame

    Corporeal laws are unwrit

    As suns and love retreat

    To cosmic madness laws submit

    Though stalwart minds entreat

    In luminous space blackened stars

    They gaze, accuse, deny

Roiling, moaning, this realm of ours

    In madness lost shall die

    Carrion hordes trill their profane

    Accord with eldritch plans

To cosmic forms from tangent planes

    We end as we began
