Posted: 05 Jan 2020 04:53 AM PST Hi Tenno, So before any of you go "oh, this thread again", hear me out - I believe 2020 is the first year where this suggestion might actually hold merit, even from a business perspective. I'm not here to talk about all the things in Warframe that need fixing now, but more specifically why taking a "Health of the Game" year in 2020 is genuinely needed to ensure a good future for this game we all love. Over the years I've seen heaps of other threads like this, asking to go back and revisit some of the many stagnant and lackluster parts of the game. However, as has even been stated by Rebecca and Steve in some of their interviews, DE lives and dies by their content drops, and player concurrency is directly related to dropping said updates with bright new shinies to engage in. So while many, many other Warframe players like myself have been yearning for DE to go back and fix some of their broken, out dated, or incomplete game systems, I've always understood that even if DE wanted to, it might be a bad business choice as they need to drop new content to keep their player counts high, and thus the cash flow high as well. Looking at major content drops on player concurrency, this has been universally true, UP UNTIL 2018. 2019 was the first year where major content drops had very minimal impact on the concurrent player count, and also peaked in player count at much lower numbers compared to both 2017 and 2018. This to me makes all the difference in the world. For the first time, the large content drops very clearly under-performed when looking at the steam charts: https://steamcharts.com/app/230410#All. Both POE and Fortuna had MUCH higher player counts. I understand a lot of people discredit the steam charts as it is not representative of console players and/or people who use the non steam version. However, it is still a very relevant and representative metric for the general player interest and activity, and should absolutely not be ignored. Now, the reason for this can be debated for hours, and none of us can claim to know beyond all doubt why this is occurring. My personal theory is that players (myself included) are growing dissatisfied because they can see the game they love suffering from some very poor and under developed updates, mixed in with some pretty bad design choices, like soul crushing RNG dependency, and incomplete, unpleasant, or dis-connective game systems. The point is, if the numbers are right (and I believe they are a very solid indicator) then DE's "Let's forget about this old partial/broken/outdated thing in favor of some new flashy over-ambitious content" is now longer working. What they are dropping as major content simply isn't impacting player counts like it used to. TL;DR version: DE claims to live or die by new content drops and thus cannot allocate too much resources towards improving current game systems. 2019 was the first year where player numbers deeply disappointed when new (half-baked, IMO) content dropped. Thus, it is no longer a valid claim, and they are starting to pay the price for building houses on broken foundations. Most important of all: I love this game far more than any other, and I'm only posting stuff like this because my god, I want to see this game get back to a better place. So badly. Thank you, [link] [comments] | ||

When they nerf Rhino being able to buff Railjack guns, the Forward Artillery needs a buff. Posted: 05 Jan 2020 04:52 PM PST Can't one shot crewships without a roar. Even with the Zetki Forward Artillery avionic, you can only two shot them in the Veil. Having to take multiple shots to kill a crewship defeats the purpose of only having 4 shots at the start of a mission. We need either more damage on our Forward Artillery as it even starts to fall off on Saturn without the avionic which, is pretty pitiful or, we need more ammo for our forward artillery to start each mission with. Right now it's pretty much board or bust. I rarely ever see people use the forward artillery in the Veil and for good reason. If our forward cannons cannot do the only job they exists for, they may as well just not exist at all. Hitting crewships with your largest gun with the most powerful avionic you can get for them in the game only for them to survive is not satisfying nor is having only one real avenue for getting rid of pestships.
