    Proof of concept credits ephemera

    Posted: 11 Jan 2020 04:04 PM PST

I think it would be better if DE took a long break from creating new stuff from scratch and start doing things whith what they have.

    Posted: 11 Jan 2020 08:14 AM PST

Warframe is like my favorite game, and has been for the last 4 or 5 years, so every criticism I give to it comes from a place of love.

I've seen many posts lately that talk about how DE starts a project, realeases it half assed, and then progressively forgets about it. And I get where that comes from. I've been waiting for Empyrean since they mentioned toying with the concept of it. And now I'm actually avoiding playing untill I'm sure at least the drop tables and economy of the RJ system is worth the time. And we've all seen this same adjustment period, when because they're introducing a new system or mechanic all the numbers behind the cool new graphics are screwd up. The bigger the project (Eidolon, Fortuna, Liches, RJ), the bigger calibration mess. This is because DE has taken this self imposed challenge of making their pond as wide as it can be shallow. And i really think if this keeps going it's gonna end bad. We've already seen that this has been one of the update launches with the least concurrent players at the time (by steam metrics, but still a notable source) despite the hype that came with it, which says a lot about future updates.

But I think there can be a turn for better if there's a change of focus from DE's part on how to add new content to the game. That is to start playing to their strengths. Make that pond deeper. The movement system is one of the most satisfying ones I've played, parkour feels pretty good. So if a new tile set takes advantage of that of course it's gonna get mostly possitive reaction, like the new Jupiter. Same goes for the new mission type brought with that tile set, that captured some fun aspects of other missions and remixed them into one. It didn't have to reinvent the wheel. The lore is also one of the things that kept me hooked. I still sometimes replay the cinematic quests just like rewatching an episode of a good show. It's sad that the more interesting worldbuilding is hidden within codex entries in reading form. Would'nt it be fun if we get to know the world firsthand?. In that note, The Sacrifice does a pretty good job at giving us not only a vague but indicative explenation as to where do warframes come from, but also a kind of emotional bond with one of them, that also happens to have a cool new feature. They didn't need to bring in a whole new big system to give us a memorable moment with a new fun toy.

So what I'm saying is, we should push for DE to do the best they can with what they already have. No more new systems over new mechanics over new RNG. Throw new interesting deffense targets at us. Show us more minibosses. The addition of thumpers has been fun at least for me, as they're one of the only enemies that actally take a good aim and movement control to defeat. Develope more the conflict between the corpus and the grineer (remember that's a thing?). There's tons of things they can do with their two already existing open maps (in fact we still have no idea when the third spider in the Vallis is gonna wake up), or something with the less developped sindicates, or with their already existing characters that we have not killed like hundreds of times. Or with the factions that are less fleshed out... etc.

Tl;Dr: DE's ambitions for the game are understandable, but if they don't focus their efforts into making their pond deeper, not wider, they are going to lose interest of their playerbase faster and faster.

Edit: I'm not saying that there should be no new content. But new content does not have to be this over the top complex ambitious project to be something actually good. That version of new content is starting to not work so good for them.

Daily Reminder that Kuva Lich mechanic is BAD.

    Posted: 11 Jan 2020 09:10 AM PST

Games that involve continuous grind towards 1 target or towards something thats locked behind RNG may be harsh to people playing them, no doubt.

But developers of all these games understand one simple thing. TIME. Grind may be tough, but every second spent grinding must contribute to overall game progress. When you farm Vidar Reactor, you at least get Intrinsics, when youre trying to get ephemeras from content you get resources or currency or a huge load of affinity which can max your focus cap in 1 go. Not even bad.

Let`s have a look at Liches. Once you start farming Kuva weapons, the chance of the next lich being a COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME with the only thing you can get from is affinity(which you can get from anywhere else) and an option to roll the dice again is increasing. Imagine having 1-3 last Kuva weapons to get and actually getting them without buying at least one.

A lot of things i`ve seen about the ability to skip lich if rolls are bad. This will not fix the issue most likely, but make everyone not to try to waste time on liches until they get the "skip" button. Kuva Liches, as well as a huge pile of 2019 content is raw in terms of gameplay and requires at least a way to put guns with bad rolls to use other than selling to not be an absolute disappointment.

My idea? An ability to transfer a weapon with worse stats into a current weapon bonus increase with some restrictions.

So whos idea was it to make railjack grineer tougher then sortie level enemies with augmented health and armor combined?

    Posted: 11 Jan 2020 06:03 PM PST

Seriously, this is ridiculous, if my riven aklex prime can oneshot level 110 elite lancers to the head but take like 10 shots to kill a railjack lancer that's level 60, there is a problem, they don't even make missions much harder, just are tediously annoying as I have to hit/shoot them 2-3x as much now, I can't imagine what its like for newer or less prepared players who happen to get in a higher mission

Like, one headshot from my paris prime using corrosive damage kills a corrupted bombard at 110, not using radiation, meanwhile lancers and those hammer douches take like 3-4 arrows sometimes

Enemy armor is already enough of a bs problem that forces corrosive+heat to even try to deal with and this is just much worse

Edit: For reference, they have the same amount of armor as their normal counterparts, but 16.67x as much health

Normal elite Lancer at level 1: 150 health Empyrean elite Lancer at Level 1: 2500 health

Scale it to Level 64 (on the wiki you can't check the new lances health somehow so used another site):

Normal Health: 5,552 on 78.69% Damage reduction from 1107 armor

Empyrean Health: 92,597 on same damage resistance

For comparisons at the same level

Corrupted Bombards: 16,500 on 92% DR

Corrupted Heavy Gunners: 33,628 on 92% DR

Sentient Conculysts: 78,695 on 87% DR

Demolyst Heavy Gunner: 74,030 on 78% DR

Zanuka: 60,535 with 461,512 shield and 40% DR (this numbers iffy to me)

    Alad V: 33,313.5 with 28,511.25 shields and 82% DR

So basically empyrean lancers, by level, are beefier then corrupted, bosses, sentients and demolysts

    Fantastic fucking design

The Pennant and Korrudo are emblematic of my concerns regarding Warframe

    Posted: 11 Jan 2020 01:36 PM PST

I don't want to sound like one of those people who holds up a nerf as a sign of how the game is doomed, and I'm not going to do that. What's bothering me is how fixes are prioritized and how things are fixed. I want to describe the situation to you.

The korrudo were added April 4th of this year 2019 (shut up, I know what year it is huehuehue) as a fairly rare drop from thumpers in PoE. They, apparently mistakenly, had the health recovery from the hirudo. I'm not upset about this being fixed. That part is fine. It's not supposed to have it, now it doesn't have it. The pennant, in case you weren't aware, is broken. It's been documented by other posts, but the quick summary is that the pennant misses the multi-hit parts of its combos. Go ahead and compare it to the tatsu. The neutral combo has a spin that hits three times on the tatsu, but only once on the pennant. Other parts of other combos are the same. The korrudo are a weapon I don't think most people are interested in, both for the weapon class and statistical inferiority to the hirudo, which now also has the benefit of healing where the korrudo has nothing, and there was no impetus to fix this for the last eight months. The pennant is new, it looks good, people are grinding for it, and it remains broken. It drops in railjack and we were told that the focus would be on railjack. I don't know that DE has even acknowledged that it's broken.

How are these things getting prioritized? Don't you think the other way around would be better?

Additionally, they take repair drones out of the market because they're allowing people to bypass the material grind, but we didn't get any economy fixes. I've completed all the railjack missions, did my grind for the pennant and quellor, played a bunch for fun, and I've been replaying it again to get friends through it. I only have enough titanium to make one Sigma mark 3 part. Almost 2, sure, I've got about 11K and change. I haven't repaired or built a single thing. The one-quarter-of-one-percent droprate of the drone as a mission reward is meaningless. By the time I run the hundreds (apparently near 900) of missions it would take to have the reasonable expectations of having received one, I'll probably have more materials than I know what to do with. I'll also be really sick of this shit, because there's only one mission type and I just repeated it a thousand times.

In the same way, they removed the abort-farming of intrinsics. I'm fine with that. This isn't a complaint post about not being able to exploit the specific circumstances of intrinsics not being effected by bonus XP and that meaning we could fail or abort a mission without losing anything. Clearly, losing is not supposed to be our most beneficial path. Good. I'm on board with fixing that. But everybody who took advantage of it gets to keep all those intrinsic points. This fix only holds back people who played the game as it was intended, because we're all stuck with the intrinsic cap. We aren't allowed to prepare for the command tree. Any extra intrinsic points we might gain while doing the ridiculous resource grind from the last paragraph just go down the fucking toilet.

    Why?

What this says to me is that the command tree isn't going to be ready for a long time, otherwise they wouldn't need to remove the exploitative farm and saddle even as-intended players with a cap if it were right around the corner. The cap would be pointless if they didn't think people were going to be hitting 10s across the board well before Command is ready. It says to me that new railjack content isn't going to be ready for a long time. It's just forcing an artificial extension into the mode, beyond chart-completion, beyond mod and blueprint drops, beyond even fun, because there's not going to be anything but this one mode for a long time.

It's just the impression I get, like when someone tells you there's nothing wrong but insists you not look for yourself.

DE, you've created a situation where it feels like the best way to approach two updates worth of stuff, 26 and 27, is to just ignore it for an unknown length of time, waiting for it to be fixed so it respects the hours and effort we put into it, because it doesn't right now. You're removing the workarounds without addressing the problems, and it seems to be all you've got. You're not squashing the farm and putting in the thing for our XP to go into at the same time, you're just squashing the farm. You're fixing a broken weapon, but only where it makes it weaker and it's the one nobody gives a shit about. You prevented us from "bypassing the experience" but you didn't add anything to the experience we have.

We're starving and you're just washing the dishes instead of making dinner.

If you still need Cetus rep, do conservation!

    Posted: 11 Jan 2020 05:54 PM PST

Conservation is, by far, the easiest way to get Cetus rep. Even beating out fishing, mining, and bounties. In Orb Vallis you need to find a turd, track the animal, and call it. In Plains of Eidolon you can just find animals out in the map and tranquilize them. No need for all that tracking nonsense.

The lowest tier animal in PoE, a Plains Kuaka, gives 400 rep per perfect capture (which is stupid easy with a stealth frame) and they very commonly spawn in groups of three. It's even faster at night when you can hunt Kavats which give 500 rep per perfect capture for the lowest tier. The rep goes up (sometimes into the thousands) with the type and rarity of the animal (see here).

I am MR18 and I can max my daily rep in about 10 minutes (give or take) with just conservation. You can make it super easy with a stealth frame or by flying above the animal's detection range with an archwing (you can use the tranq rifle while in archwing).

I'm sure most of you already know this, but I didn't until a few days ago so I am sharing. I hope it helps.

Dear DE: Please do not gate main story content behind Railjack

    Posted: 11 Jan 2020 08:18 PM PST

Railjack, one of the most controversial Warframe updates to date, mainly due in part of its launch before the holidays in a very rough, unpolished and unfinished state, and the slow "fixes" that followed, is a very contentious update that isn't enjoyed by everyone. Yes sure, there are always updates that DE issues that not everyone enjoys, obviously there's no such thing as being able to please everyone, but Railjack, which is so far and definitely plays like a completely separate, and disjointed expansion of the game (which may as well be its own game for all it matters as nothing you do in this island of content impacts the base game, and vice versa). Lots of people have voiced their immeasurable disappointment with this update, as is expected from many other updates of its sort, however one thing stands vastly apart from this update that separates it from previous ones: the gating of main story content behind a new and divisive gamemode that not everyone (and by a huge margin) enjoys, whether it be for its controversial state or for disliking its mechanics as a whole. It's bad enough as it is that the gamemode is immensely difficult to keep up with, especially with the lack of tutorials and the immense difficulty and poor progression in the expansion, that people have a lot of difficulty even reaching this new tileset and quest (talking about Erra). The community is frustrated enough about this update as it is, and gating further main story content behind Railjack, especially "late-game" Railjack, would turn away a massive chunk of veteran players who care about the base game and are dissatisfied or dislike the mechanics and gameplay of this expansion, one that again, feels like it's not even a part of Warframe with its gameplay and features (or lack thereof).

TLDR; Not everybody likes playing Railjack whether it be for disliking the gameplay or its features, and gating main story content behind shouldn't be a thing.
