Small change idea for Kuva Liches: Let them take over Assassination nodes as guaranteed spawn points.

    Posted: 18 Oct 2020 09:17 PM PDT

Pretty simple idea. Currently, Liches can take over basically anywhere except the Assassination nodes. However, if they could take over the nodes, this would make it a lot less of a chore to deal with them, as you'd be able to have a guaranteed fight with them to finish them off after you know their Requiems.

    Posted: 18 Oct 2020 08:07 AM PDT

Not that "limits their perseption and tactical response to gunfire" means anything as far as description goes, but this button removes so much BS from this game. No ancient\scorpion hooks, no flame waves, no un-interruptible ground slams, arctic eximus bubbles immidiately shatters once they enter the range, and most importantly, no endless nulifier-waves spam from comba's in Fortuna. Its not entirely amazing, like, it doesn't interact with nulifier \ ancients auras \ parasitic eximus in any way, but at least it not complete none-ability without weird builds around the augment.

And there wasn't a single word about it on wiki in its ability description, shoutout to one guy who shared that in the comments.

Deimos' bounties do not encourage coop gameplay like the rest of the game

    Posted: 18 Oct 2020 12:17 PM PDT

You know how we all think when we go to a mission (except sortie spy/radiation) like "damn, this would be a lot easier and effective with more people". More people in any other content means more enemies, so more loot and more afinity. Also, most of the time even though there are more enemies, we actually do things faster with more people.

On Deimos, playing with more people just means we will spend much more time than we would if we did solo. We have to wait for more enemies to get into that damned circle, collect more of those damned samples for latrox, wait for like triple the excavations to finish.

It just feels weird. Wasnt the purpose of removing the derelict to improve matchmaking? What matchmaking will we have if everyone realizes its actually easier to run bounties solo?

I don't know, didnt compare times when doing solo or with people. Its just a feeling I have, and maybe more people have it too.

Exalted Blade's energy waves are currently bugged in a way that majorly affects how much damage they deal

    Posted: 18 Oct 2020 04:06 PM PDT

Here's a quick bit of background information for anyone that doesn't know: Every attack within a melee combo has a different damage multiplier on it. For example, your forward + attack combo might do 300% damage on the first hit and 200% on the second hit, while the block + attack combo might have 3 hits that each do 100% damage. This damage multiplier stacks multiplicatively with every other damage boost in the game, and it's a huge part of why melee weapons do so much damage.

Now Exalted Blade creates a travelling energy wave after every single attack, and these waves copy your modded damage, elements, critical stats, and status. Basically it just copies everything from the blade and turns it into a slow moving projectile. The current bug with these waves is that the damage multipliers from your combos aren't applied to the waves in the way that you'd expect. Instead of the wave copying the damage multiplier of the attack that CREATED the wave, it uses the damage multiplier of the attack that you're CURRENTLY performing when the wave hits. If you're not currently performing any attacks when a wave hits, then the wave will always deal 100% damage.

So how does this affect normal gameplay? Well Exalted Blade has multiple combos with 200% or 300% damage hits. Because of the slow travel speed of the waves, you can often get cheated out of these damage multipliers in normal gameplay. For example, if there's a far away enemy that would die with a single 3x damage energy wave, you can't just use a 3x damage attack and kill it with that wave. That's because by the time the wave gets there, you'll be done with the swinging animation of your 3x damage attack, so the wave will only deal 100% damage. This actually enforces the stereotypical Excalibur gameplay of spamming the melee button for the entire mission, because that way you'll always be performing an attack whenever a wave hits, and hence you'll always get a damage multiplier on your waves.

TL;DR: Energy waves copy the damage multiplier of the attack that you're currently performing when the wave hits, and NOT the damage multiplier of the attack that actually created the wave. If you're not performing an attack when the wave hits, the wave will just deal 100% damage. So in order for your waves to get their intended bonus damage (2x or 3x damage on many of Exalted Blade's combos), you have to be constantly spamming attacks so that you always have a damage multiplier "active" when your waves hit.

I want to give a massive thanks and shout-out to the DE staff who made the enemy Military so fleshed out and structured. I'm in the extreme minority here when I say I'm FAR more interested in the enemy factions than I am Tenno.

    Posted: 18 Oct 2020 04:52 PM PDT

Important distinction here being enemy FACTION, not any specific enemy character (those I'm neutral over).

I find far more pleasure codexing and looking in-depth at the Grineer Military, their armour, their armaments, where they stand in combat. Their culture, and how it's reflected in the factions' military and troops.

For example, for Grineer, we can all see a very clear and obvious hierarchy in weapons and who uses what. Here's a very rough approximation of the enemy progression you see in order of how serious they want to **** you up.

    Stug/Sheev/Cleaver -> Viper/Grakata/Sobek/Vulkar -> Hind/Machete/Furax/Kraken -> Karak/Kohm/Grinlok -> Flameblades -> Tonkor -> Gorgon/Jat Kittag/Ogris/Drakgoon -> Kesheg

And if we look at the military hierarchy, we see the females tended to get preferential treatment over males in general. While it's true that male Grineer bosses far outnumber female bosses (Kela de Thaym vs everyone else, and in Empyrean, all the Captains are males), in the lower ranks, we see females are often better equipped and are in better shape. The Scorpions are clearly far more capable and elite than Butchers. Or notice how all deep-space pilots are exclusively female?

Then you get into the different Corps of the enemy factions too! For Grineer's Kuva, Kosma, Drekar, Tusk, Nightwatch etc. aren't just visually distinct, but they all have slightly different weapons too! Some corps have units unique to their corps, such as Drekar Manic Bombards, Tusk Dargyn Pilots, etc.

Similar case for Corpus. Although they can be confusing as all hell (their snipers use Snipetron, STAHLTA, and OPTICOR). And their Vapos Detron Crewman don't even use Detrons. But I still like them. Their armaments and hierarchy seems to be played fast and loose unlike the Grineer's more structured system. And I'm not too big a fan of how Techs are literally just bigger Crewman without any explanation. It's not like they have explicit augmentation like Grineer.

My only criticism with your design are the Infested. It'd be nice if they looked different based on where you meet them.

    Maroo's Bazaar and Ayatan Treasures

    Posted: 18 Oct 2020 10:25 PM PDT

DE, is it really necessary that I go to the Bazaar every time I want to grab the event treasure? Why can't I just select the mission and then she radios me, telling me that there's a mission and where it is? Going to her place is a wasted trip and an additional loading screen. I can't speak for other platforms, but my base model PS4 is running a bit slow after five years. I'd love to cut out the extra minute to minute and a half to get to my next loading screen.

Xata's Whisper is a better damage buff than Shooting Gallery, and might be better than Roar.

    Posted: 18 Oct 2020 11:20 PM PDT

The big 3 damage buffs in the Helminth system are: Shooting Gallery, Roar, and Xata's Whisper, which naturally leads people to compare them. They all have roughly similar stats on the buff% and duration, but all three of them have different mechanisms that they actually work by.

    Shooting Gallery Roar Xata's Whisper
    Drain 50 energy 75 energy 25 energy
    Duration 30s 30s 35s
    Buff 25% 30% 26%
Mechanism +Damage% +FactionDmg% Extra damage instance

Mesa's Shooting Gallery is overrated. It's listed as a 25% damage buff, but assuming that you install Serration/Hornet/PPP, your actual effective buff is closer to 7.8% for pistols or 9.4% for melees and primary weapons. The reason for this is that Shooting Gallery is coded as an increase in your "damage%" statistic for your weapon, which means that it stacks additively with the 165% or 220% damage mods on your weapon, making it a relatively small increase. If you're picking this for the crowd control, that's fine, but be aware that it is a mathematically inferior buff for damage output.

Rhino's Roar does NOT function this way, and instead is coded as faction damage. Assuming that you do not have any faction damage in your build, then it functions exactly as it appears on the skill, the full 30% buff. However, if you are running a faction mod on your weapon, that buff drops down to about a 19.4% effective increase.

Mod Effectiveness Roar Effectiveness Xata Effectiveness
    No faction 0% 30% 26%
    Expel +30% 23.1% 33.8%
    Primed Expel +55% 19.4% 40.3%

Look at that, Xata's whisper is TWICE as effective as roar when using primed faction mods at 100% strength. This is because faction mods make roar weaker, while they actually make Xata's Whisper BETTER, since it double-dips, applying first to the initial instance, and again to the second instance.

    Spreadsheet

Roar is better in some situations. In casual play it's common to ignore faction mods, and stacking faction damage will increase your bleed damage for slash builds. But, in cases where you simply need to output a lot of raw damage without relying on slash, Xata's Whisper + faction mods is the mathematically superior option.

It's also worth pointing out that below 180% strength, a Primed faction mod alone will provide more damage increase than ANY of these buffs alone.

At higher levels of ability strength, the difference between the buffs widens. At 155% ability strength, with primed faction mods installed, Xata is about 108% better than Roar. With non-primed faction mods, Xata still gives a 46% larger buff than Roar. Without no faction mods, Roar is about 13% better than Xata's. In all cases, the highest raw damage output occurs when using faction mods, primed or not, with Xata's Whisper.

tl;dr infested goo make gun strong

Edit: Actually, it looks like faction mods get applied to the Xata's Whisper second damage instance AGAIN, meaning that it's more like a 40% effective damage buff. Updated data to show this
