orphix venom tips for beginners after MANY x36 runs Posted: 29 Dec 2020 02:19 PM PST So last night I finally finished my last incomplete arcane & was in discord talking to a couple frustated new(ish) to warframe freinds, I've also talked to randoms while running these & theres some things that might seem obvious for hardcore players but are less so for beginners, anyway I thought I could post a few tips that can hopefully make this easier & more enjoyable especially for people struggling to make it to 24/36... •build for corrosive: if you've done a bunch of eidolon caps, radiation might seem like it makes sense but unlike the eidolons, the orphix have ferrite armor. •forma: this event is a great opportunity to rank your gundams to 40, i wish I had done this bc I essentially wasted my time. if you have a bunch of these to do you will almost definitely be able to 5 forma both of them passively by doing like one a day for the duration of the event.... Do the exalteds at the same time or, if you have limited forma, put them on the exalteds first, 3 should do it. •rage/repair: energy is the one problem that seems pretty common later on, while hildryn can make up for that, running pubs you won't always have one & these mods will make your life so much easier. for bone widow you can alternate meat hook & shield to help mitigate while restoring energy & voidrig it's more about casting shield right at 900 or so health. •fluctus: can shoot the resonators through walls, big help if one or two people have these, but theyre not for dps & you will usually see at least one person with one per run so not a big deal if you don't have one. •mausolon: is really good for quickly deleting the lower leveled orphixes, if you've sunk like 4 or so forma into yours, one charged shot should do the job up to like 12. •sabot rounds: I use this on my voidrig exalted, that little bit of punch through made a huge difference for me in that I can just hit somewhere near the weak spot & still do damage (I'm not that great at hitting it with voidrig's exalted I think compared to scarlet spear the weak spot is a bit small tbh). It also adds damage, win/win imo. •bonewidow: seems to do the most sustained dps & doesn't have to worry about weak spots but the orphix are often in weird places (like 50m up on the ceiling or almost out of bounds) so that's something to keep in mind. you can build for range & still be able to hit them but its a bit inconsistent the further you get. If you can, use the sword from behind objects which will prevent you from getting in someone's way & hold you in place as well, it won't affect your damage output. There are some maps that are just easier for using bone widow in & some that just aren't. meat hook allows you to actually fully heal your gundam which is nice but without storm shroud you definitely have to be more careful & keep an eye on health later on in rounds (24+). Still viable & can be a lot of fun if you're bored of voidrig. This is my favorite of the two. •voidrig: even though it's not my favorite, this was my choice most of the time, storm shroud up 90% of the time unless using the rage/repair routine, & for dps, if possible being somewhat close while center mast of the orphix, & aiming slightly above the weak spot allows me to do more consistent damage. •get out of the gundam: even if you're not hildryn or even paying attention to the rotation, there's no rule that says you have to stay in your mech the entire time lol. running from location to location is much easier/faster (at least for me) in your warframe or potatochild. If nobody in your group has a fluctus, it's sometimes better to leave the gundam in a good dps position & just use your potatochild to take out resonators., I think any amp would do the job fine, also void blast works. •warframes to use: hildryn is an obvious choice for energy orbs, but getting the hang of rage/repair can pretty much solve your energy problems.... personally my memory is garbage & I never could quite get the hang of the rotation/maps & ended up using wukong, volt or gauss most of the time, to get around quicker & you can also add protea's helminth ability to any frame. plus I tend to turn my brain off by round 12 or so. •magus elevate/repair & lockdown: just in general make life easier in this game, if you don't have them yet start adding to them asap. A few builds: Voidrig: https://i.imgur.com/bv895sN.jpg Arquebex: https://i.imgur.com/Ter3Ixt.jpg Bonewidow: https://i.imgur.com/HXqMz8G.jpg Ironbride: https://i.imgur.com/EOIxaht.jpg Mausolon: https://i.imgur.com/xBadwMS.jpg Fluctus: https://i.imgur.com/cFD6LWy.jpg Thats all off the top of my head buy if yall have anything important to add please lmk ETA, u/ahferroin7 added: Other tips: •Necramech dash, slam, and melee all one-shot the resonators. If you're coming in with a dash and there's a resonator you can run through in the process, just do so. •Operator void blast and void beam are inconsistent. They can reliably one-shot resonators if you are hosting, but may or may not if you are a client (void blast seems more reliable than void beam). •Mausolon is also nice because the splash damage helps kill the non-sentient enemies quicker. •Fluctus is great, provided you actually know where to aim. Resonators in the next room are almost never directly lined up with the icon on the door. •Voidrig with the Arquebex properly modded can actually nuke sentients pretty effectively while also clearing out many of the resonators. This is useful simply because you do get points for killing sentients. It's also the second most efficient way to kill a vulnerable Orphix after Bonewidow's Exalted Ironbride. •Getting out of the mech is actually required to kill some resonators if nobody in the group has a Fluctus (tow spawn tiles in the Corpus Ship and one in the Corpus Gas City require this). •Pay attention to the spawn rotations. They're consistent provided there is no host migration (host migration resets spawns rotations), and being there when the Orphix spawns lets you kill it quicker and get more points (because you get points for there being no active Orphixes). Orphix Venom is such a mind-numbing grind of an "event" Posted: 29 Dec 2020 11:36 PM PST Now I've heard that Scarlet Spear was infamous for being worse than this event, but I wasn't around when that event dropped so I don't REALLY know how this compares... That being said, I kinda hate this event and wish it weren't implemented in this time-limited fashion during the holidays. I feel obligated to grind for these arcanes and other rewards, but when it takes roughly 9 hours of farming OVE 36 to complete ONE of these top-tier arcanes...it just makes me not want to play. I try to limit myself to only doing a single OVE 36 per day so I don't get burnt out, but even that's hard. Halfway through the mission I'm yawning in my chair trying to stay awake because it's so repetitive with such an overload of explosions and particle beams that it becomes white noise that I just drone off to. If 2x resource boosters had an effect on phasic cells, I think that would be enough to make it bearable, but the way it is now is just so painful to me. I don't know why an hour-long mission feels so unrewarding this way, personally I would rather have difficult content I had to prepare and plan for than time-consuming content where I'm mindlessly autopiloting while trying to stay conscious. Maybe it's just me ranting about not wanting to grind for something rewarding, but stuff like this is why I get burnt out on Warframe every now and then in the first place... [link] [comments]
Orb Vallis Coildrives are firing far faster than normal Posted: 29 Dec 2020 09:46 PM PST For reference: When alerted, they will fire their twin plasma cannons that deals heavy Electric damage and proc. Each cannon can fire independently, once every 4-5 seconds in the past. Ever since Deimos Arcana, the hostile Coildrives are firing far faster than normal. They're firing fast enough to the point that any of these Defense objectives in the Vallis will get destroyed within seconds:
The Thermia Canister takes the cake if you happen to defend a Fracture near a road. There will be a good chance a Coildrive will drive by and destroy the Canister within seconds. To easily observe this, fly by a Coildrive with your Archwing and follow it. Does anyone else notice this? I've already reported this to DE, yet no avail. [link] [comments]
Lavos's elemental "imbue" NEEDS to last until changed Posted: 29 Dec 2020 08:46 AM PST Having to imbue elements before every ability use makes the new warframe feel really clunky right now. While you're at it, could you please change Lavos to treat the "tap versus hold" setting the same as other warframes? Mine is currently set so that for Ivara's Quiver skill, it changes arrow types on hold, and casts on tap, but for Lavos, the same setting has me tapping to imbue, and holding to cast?!?! Please either make Lavos consistent with the other Warframes, or let us change this setting on a per warframe basis. [link] [comments]
