Hot take: Void Storms are a fantastic addition to the game Posted: 15 Apr 2021 07:56 AM PDT With the introduction of Void Storms, DE did something that people have been asking from them for a long time: make a serious attempt at bridging the so-called "content islands" of the game and giving players a game mode where a ton of different systems are integrated with each other. In this mode you get Railjack content combined with normal mission content; yeah, the balance needs to be tweaked for sure, and there's not enough actual spaceship piloting. Agreed. But the ambition is sound. And the missions themselves feel so much more complex and involved than most normal missions. A normal mission is basically "Start at point A, go to point B, do a thing, extract". Void Storms on the other hand are "Here are objectives A, B and C. Do them in whatever order you like. Then go to point D, where you'll be presented with new objectives. Then go to point E, where you will again be presented with new objectives." And the entire time, the game will be throwing shit at you that you need to react to immediately. It's wild, it's frantic, and it's fun. And, importantly, what Void Storms are also doing is giving us a very unified farming spot in the game. It's pretty much the perfect medium where you can accomplish so many different things at the same time. You routinely get around 200k credits, ~1000 endo, and radiant relics as end-of-mission rewards (if you do all the optional stuff). And Railjack missions have infinite shared Affinity range, so they've always been great for leveling things up. When has there ever been another game mode where you could do Affinity farming, Credit farming, Endo farming, Relic farming and Relic opening at the same time? I mean never. Is the Affinity farming as fast as in ESO? No. Is the Credit farming as fast as in the Index? No. Is the Endo farming as fast as in Arbitrations? No. Is the Relic farming as fast as in normal relic missions? No. But the point remains, you now have a game mode where you can do all of these things at the same time, so the net result is a farming mode that's actually really efficient all things considered. These are not relic missions that you can complete in less than two minutes, with your eyes closed, where you'll get your relic reward but pretty much nothing else. These are long, complex missions where you need to pay attention and play at a high pace from start to finish, with big and chunky rewards in the end when you get through them. Honestly, I'm probably not gonna go back to playing normal Relic missions anymore, Void Storms are genuinely a better way to spend my time. The game mode is more fun, and the rewards are far better. Unless the only thing you want is maximized relic opening speed and nothing else, in which case normal relic missions are more efficient. [link] [comments] | ||

DE can pilots please destroy the exterior Grineer RJ objectives? Posted: 15 Apr 2021 08:01 AM PDT It's very tedious to do Grineer RJ missions solo. You end up spending the majority of the mission going between inside and outside the objective areas because if you set a crew member to pilot they just take the ship off to the middle of nowhere instead of helping you. Does DE want those missions to take an inordinate amount of time when you're playing solo? I have kids and I play while they are asleep, I very often have to step away so I play solo so I can pause and not inconvenience other people. I was really hoping that the command intrinsic would help those mission go a little smoother, but honestly all the command intrinsic seems to do is sap the fun out of the Railjack component of missions because the gunners are so damn strong you don't even need to do anything besides use the forward artillery. I know this is a bit of a rant, but I want to enjoy Railjack. It's an amazing concept but I just feel like it fails when put into practice. Can we at least make the pilots a little better?
