Warframe Survey about players & high level content Posted: 04 Jul 2021 12:48 PM PDT Hey there, recently i had a lot of talks about the upcoming Update "Sisters of Parvos" and I thought it would be a good time to ask for the common opinion on a few things related to it before the Update hits on Tuesday. So i set up a survey that might take you a minute or two and if the participation is high enough to get proper statistics I will make all results public later. https://forms.gle/Usn7Mhvg6xZpjF4U6 Thanks in advance for your time tenno! Noob here. When do you usually start playing with other people online? Posted: 04 Jul 2021 06:26 PM PDT Really liking the game so far. Just starting Venus missions. Was wondering when you start seeing other players? I haven't yet, perhaps because of my region and consolidate type (Xbox east Asia lol) but I also thought I read that you don't usually see people til later on, is that correct? Also would love advice for how to play PvP matches. Can you search for them Anyways thanks for any and all help (: [link] [comments] | ||

[Theorycrafting] Optimal Armor-to-Health Ratio Posted: 04 Jul 2021 08:28 AM PDT This has bugged me for the longest time, which is that given any current set of values for armor and health, which should I increase for the largest bump in effective health. This morning I got positively nerd-sniped by this problem, so I decided to finally go and calculate it. Warning: lots of calculus and algebra to follow. Those who just want the bottom line should skip to the tl;dr at the end. To set up our problem, we need to know how Effective Health is calculated. This can be easily found on the wiki, and the formula is Effective Health = Health * (Net Armor + 300)/300. Note that Net Armor refers to your armor after any modifiers, including status effects and damage type bonuses. Now that we know that, our question is as follows: given a constant total sum of armor and health, what ratio of the two gives the highest effective health? In other words, where Armor = A, Health = H, Effective Health = E, and T is a constant where T = A + H, what values of A and H give the highest value for E? Amusingly, I wound up wasting a lot of time with a stupid and overly convoluted approach while solving this, then felt like an idiot when I realized there was a way simpler one. I'll start with the stupid one, see if you can spot why I'm a dum-dum: Since we know that E = H*(A+300)/300 and we know that T = H + A, straightforward algebra lets us get a pair of formulas:
These simplify to:
From there we take the derivatives of each formula. The sharp eyed among you will probably have noticed by now why I'm being very silly.
Since we're interested in the local maximum, we set our derivatives to 0:
Which gives us H = A + 300. In other words, you get the most bang for your buck when your Health is 300 higher than your Net Armor. So why is that method dumb? Because there's a way simpler way to solve this. If we treat the Effective Health formula as a scalar field, we can get the gradient easily by just finding the partial derivatives:
Set the gradient to zero and we get:
So much easier! Goes to show what tunnel vision will do to you. Ah well, at least I got a nice demonstration of the practical utility of vector calculus out of it. Anyways, tl;dr: you get the most bang for your buck when your Health is 300 higher than your Net Armor. As this is Net Armor, you may wish to adjust the armor value up a little if you expect to encounter a lot of corrosive damage. Edit: Formatting [link] [comments] |
