I Now Understand How Destiny 2 New Light Players Feel Posted: 10 Jan 2022 03:26 PM PST Holy shit. I've been a hardcore Destiny player since the Alpha. Considering how used to convoluted game systems I am, I really assumed I'd be able to pick this game up and figure it out. I totally understand that this game came out almost 10 years ago now, the new player experience is low on the Devs priority list at this point, and that there have been expansions and updates and tons of content added since then. But holy crap the new player experience is overwhelming. I expected there'd be times I'd was in free roam and see something that wasn't explained to me, and that I was only seeing them because there was an expansion or something, so it might not make sense to me now, but I wouldn't have seen it if I'd played from the start, and I'm cool with that. But of course, all the videos I watch are out dated, and damn, the new player experience is not great. Story is interesting, if not really fleshed out in game. But there's so many systems, hundreds of materials, and it's completely overwhelming. After the initial training mission, and a handful of missions on Earth you're let loose with no context. I loaded into my first relay and had absolutely no idea what was happening whatsoever. Sometimes a level 25 red bar is mowed down by my AR, sometimes a level 8 takes two mags. Sometimes my abilities destroy every level 20 in sight, sometimes they don't do shit to a level 15 red bar. Also sword smashing on the ground is apparently even stronger than any of my abilities or weapons. And I have no idea why any of this is the way it is. But it's fun trying to figure out. Also the limited inventory space for frames and weapons is supremely annoying, and I say this as someone who doesn't mind spending real world money on a game I like, and I've already spent about $50 so far in the week I've been playing. That being said I genuinely wish Destiny 2 had a gift option. I asked at Maroo's Bazaar if anyone had any lower tier mods for a new player with limited resources could use, and someone just gifted me a Caliban and someone else gifted me a Loki. I'm sure they just had a million materials laying around and could make it easy, or they simply were giving me some old junk they didn't want to use, but it was a pleasant surprise. Really wish I could do that in Destiny. Anyway - not sure there's a big point to this post other than me eating humble pie after rolling my eyes hearing new players complain about Destiny 2 new player experience. [link] [comments]

TIL - I don't need to remember damage combos Posted: 10 Jan 2022 03:28 PM PST I play off and on and tend to forget the damage combos; viral, corrosive, radiation, etc. Being a smartass I decided to type "viral" into my mod search.Turns out DE is smart and I'm an ass; it worked. Typing "viral" into the mod search only showed cold and toxic mods. Same for all the other combos, ie. "radi" (for radiation) only showed my heat and electricity mods (and my radius mod, but that's beside the point). How is a F2P game THIS GOOD!? [link] [comments]
Natural Talent should be an exilus mod Posted: 10 Jan 2022 06:24 AM PST Is this a new topic to bitch about? No. Am I still bitching about it? You're damn tootin. If shit like Drift mods, which can have DPS boosts all of their own, can fit in the Exilus slot, Natural Talent should be able to as well. As a "DPS increase" it's value isn't huge, it just makes some abilities nicer to use. End this Exilus tyranny, and give Natural Talent the top spot that it rightfully deserves! [link] [comments]

Some common misinformation about Lich/Sisyer hunting seems to be going around so here's some facts Posted: 10 Jan 2022 01:34 PM PST Right, so I'm sick of this because I'm seeing even MR 30 players not understand and crying in chat. Like 9/10 public murmur missions I go into it's the same crap. If you knock your lich down 3 times: IT. DOES. NOT. LEVEL. UP. It just goes away! That's all! You don't have to stab it if you don't want to yet! You don't have to run away from it and stop someone else getting a chance with their own one! Stop watching outdated youtube guides with misinformation in them! This has been my TED talk. [link] [comments]
The hardest part for me in The New War [TW; domestic abuse][Spoilers] Posted: 10 Jan 2022 06:08 AM PST Like I said trigger warning, please don't read this if it's very sensitive for you. This opinion took so long because I was waiting to give it when they released the ability to be able to replay the quest, but I got really impatient and just watched some other people playing it on YouTube instead lol So this part happens at the very end, where you are fighting back against the superpowered Ballas as he attacks Lotus/Natah while bad guy monologuing and taking out his narcissistic rage on her. There is a moment that came after, that hit me especially hard, because I chose the child operator to continue with, so it just made this moment extra immersive. Ballas is slowly approaching Lotus/Natah and there's just this brief moment where I experienced the sheer anxiety of worrying for this character, who I've come to know and appreciate throughout the 8 years I've been playing. I tried literally everything in my power to stop him, jumping between Warframe and Tenno to see what I could do, to see what tactic would work, but nothing did and that is what made that moment especially triggering for me. Because I chose the young operator, because of this attachment to this character who I've been calling space mom this entire time, I was literally put into the shoes of a child, helpless to help their mother again their abuser. Domestic abuse is unfortunately something that my family has a history with. And while I was too young to actually remember anything that happened, I've heard experiences from both my mother, and my older brother who was actually around for it and just by his descriptions alone, being put in that situation as the younger Tenno it really helps put into perspective of how he might have felt in that situation. I honestly started crying during this moment, because of the things that I've heard, because of the experiences of my brother and my mother that they so openly shared with me. This moment hurt. But I think it hurt in a good way, because it really opened my eyes to just how much anxiety and how useless people who have been through a similar situation might have felt. I think digital extremes did a really good thing with this quest, because not a lot of games like to venture into the mental health/trauma territory too often. Representation matters and I am glad they dared to take that step that not a lot of companies decide to do. Give your moms a hug for me 💜 [link] [comments]
Ash and Oberon are going to be a pain, aren’t they? Posted: 10 Jan 2022 11:06 AM PST I was looking to farm both Ash and Oberon's systems bluelrints, so I can craft the Stalker Smoking Body and Seeding Step ephemeras that require them. So I looked it up and discovered I can't until I unlock some much later Railjack nodes. On top of that, they're both like 10% drop chance from C rotation defense missions. This is gonna take forever… [link] [comments]
