I disagree with moving Oberon and Ash parts to Railjack.

    Posted: 28 Mar 2021 04:10 PM PDT

    Original Warframe Forums post: https://forums.warframe.com/topic/1256410-i-disagree-with-moving-oberon-and-ash-parts-to-railjack/

Oberon was a very beginner friendly Warframe, in the form of a caster as opposed to Rhino's tank. While an individual part was not guaranteed by an Eximus unit, it was accepted that a player would eventually accumulate all the parts, and then some extras.

And Ash, while a very potent solo Warframe - with the right mods - he is lackluster without those mods, and/or in teamplay. His parts were harder to get, presumably due to his potential, but would not have been so hard to get if Manics were as common as they had once been when they were released (and perhaps Manics deserve to be more common anyway, since their offensive power was toned down long ago).

But now, players looking for Oberon or Ash for the first time are gated by Rising Tide, which in turn requires that The Second Dream also be completed. All of this requires progression up to Neptune, and then they are expected to play Railjack missions, which generate quite a spike in difficulty compared to other missions with similar enemy levels.

Now, I am not a new player by any means. I had gotten Oberon and Ash long ago and have since acquired their Prime versions. I have amassed countless Oberon parts in my time, and a good number of Ash parts as well. I am also well kitted out for Railjack at any mission level currently on the Proxima chart. But that does not mean that I have forgotten what it is like to be new. It seems to me that Oberon, especially, was meant for newer players; his abilities are useful almost anywhere, and yet there are other Warframes that are more effective at higher enemy levels, and in different aspects of his ability kit. And now newer players have a less diverse pool of Warframes to work with in the early game. Further, for those who are better prepared for Railjack missions such as myself, Oberon and Ash - long since acquired through the old methods - are just meaningless filler in the reward tables. Whether old or new, it just feels bad for all players.

I understand there are other issues people have with the new Corpus Railjack missions in terms of their content structure (time spent in space combat vs. in regular ground missions). I empathise and agree with that, but those issues will understandably take a lot of time to find balanced solutions for. Rewards and enemy drops, on the other hand, are just some variables to change in Railjack and re-add to enemy droptables. As such, I would see the drop locations/acquisition methods for Oberon and Ash simply reverted; and possibly make Manics more common, but not overwhelmingly so.

Here's the details on the new Nautilus sentinel's Cordon ability, since the mod description is lacking / incorrect

    Posted: 28 Mar 2021 03:52 PM PDT

So Cordon is the main draw to getting Nautilus, but in typical Warframe fashion the description is very lacking in important details. It reads "Nautilus forces enemies within 30m of the target into clusters for easier targeting. Cooldown: 15s."

After lots of testing, I've found that this description is flat out wrong in one big way (the "within 30m of the target" part), and also leaves out other important details. Here's a more correct description of how Cordon works, with a diagram to help explain:

When Cordon activates, it targets the closest enemy within 30m of you. A "pull destination" is created 5m away from you in the direction of the targeted enemy. All enemies within 30m of you will be pulled 15m towards that destination over the course of one second. For example if the targeted enemy is directly north of you, then the pull destination will be 5m north of you, and all enemies within 30m will be pulled 15m towards that destination.

    Some other quick notes:

    • The 15m pull is affected by enemy movement speed modifiers. Slowing an enemy will reduce how far they are pulled, while speeding them up will increase it.

    • Does not require line of sight to trigger

    • Enemies are continuously pulled towards the pull destination for one second, even after they've reached the destination. This means they won't continue sliding in the initial pull direction and overshoot the intended destination.

    Actually enjoying the new Railjack!

    Posted: 28 Mar 2021 05:01 PM PDT

Now, I know there's another thread that's pretty much the opposite take of this one, but I wanted to give some kudos to DE for making at least a few actual improvements on Railjack. More importantly, I can see them starting to flesh out the skeleton of the system, and getting it closer to what they'd marketed it to be in the beginning.

For the first time I really feel like a badass in Railjack, and the main reason for that is because it feels like we're actually part of a narrative rather than a one-and-done mission. The secondary objectives make the world feel a lot more alive, and I feel like a deadly saboteur with my team as we go around destroying Corpus operations and taking down capital ships. The music is a big part of this; it sets the atmosphere and makes me feel like I'm facing down significant odds and overcoming them through sheer badassitude.

I understand why many people have problems with the new changes, and I'm not saying I don't. There's a lot of issues, particularly having the mission bug out while transitioning which makes you unable to complete the objective. The crewships, while interesting in having a vertical layout, feel clunky in a way that the Grineer crewships don't. And it is frustrating that there isn't more "Railjack" parts of the mission. But Warframe is always in evolution, and what I see is the promise of eventually being able to seamlessly go back and forth between Warframe and Railjack, and that's what I find so exciting. The technology is finally there; we can board a capital ship, do an in-person mission on it, then go back out. All they need to do now is make missions where you can split the team, rather than having to have everyone get on board the ship. If they do that, and add multiple secondary objectives to each mission, I think we'll have something really special. And if they eventually make it so we can actually pilot through star systems, then send ourselves down to a planet? Oh god... the immersion would make me jizz.

So, I just want to give a little positive reinforcement to DE, and thank them for making at least a few moves in the right direction. This is the first time I've really enjoyed Railjack, both the feel and the gameplay. Even though the Orphix missions make me want to tear my hair out sometimes, they're challenging and rewarding. DE just needs to find the right balance between expanding certain areas without adding too much bloat. I'd like to think they'll get there, eventually.

P.S. My one big wishlist item right now, since it'd be easy to do? Give us a death speech for the Corpus Captains when their ship blows up! It's too anticlimactic right now, and also doesn't make sense that they'd just go BOOM without some drama.

Mirage's ult still has both cast cost, energy per second drain and a duration, I thought we moved past that since Xaku.

I was checking out Mirage since her deluxe is coming out, and I just realized she hasn't been changed or updated for years. Her ult is still largely useless, I was trying to make a disco meme build with the augment mod and discovered in horror that it still has cast cost, drain per second and duration.

For vaulted relics, the game only lets you link them in chat if you own a INT relic. Makes recruiting in recruit chat a bit difficult when you refined all of yours and can't link them for others to see.

This March I have been playing Warframe for a year, and just like on the first day, today I say having many questions about the game. And it is exciting for me to know that there is still a lot to learn, play and draw about this great game.
