    The New War: Hotfix 31.0.9

    Posted: 20 Jan 2022 06:12 AM PST

    Source

    The New War: Hotfix 31.0.9

    Optimizations :

    • Improved CPU performance on Dx12 by improving CPU core utilization, most significantly noticeable in Railjack missions or Free Roam levels.

    • Made the launcher's cache optimize feature also clean up crash reports that might have failed to submit in the past (for some extreme cases this might be hundreds of MB of wasted space).

    • Optimized away a few single-frame hitches and potentially fixed a rare crash.

    • Optimized game startup, particularly when a Quest is active.

    • Fixed crashes when failing to launch the game.

    Changes :

    • Elite Outriders now drop the same Mods as regular Outriders in Railjack missions (in addition to the Wreckage they already drop).

    • Added a 'Narmer' category to the Simulacrum Spawner screen.

    Fixes :

    • Fixed Orb Vallis Jailers sometimes spawning hundreds of meters away and not commuting to the objective.

    • Fixed Grineer pod launcher cannon not working in Grineer-to-Corpus ship Invasion / Crossfire missions.

    • Fixed Invasion Events (Fomorian or Razorback Armada) not triggering when eligible to.

    • Fixed a Fortuna Fragment spawning inside geometry after completing The New War Quest.

    • Fixed a post-NW Captura Scene not respecting placed Decorations.

    • Fixed rare case of Mod Capacity going into a negative state when Upgrading Mods when you are over MR 30.

    • Fixed lingering muzzle FX on the Tenet Cycron

    • Fixed excessive force feedback during Caliban's Razor Gyre ability.

    • Fixed missing lip sync animations during the Second Dream Quest.

    • Fixed a script error when an Adversary fails to spawn after a Host migration.

    Posted: 20 Jan 2022 11:36 AM PST

RNG gods who art in the code,
    Hallowed be thy drops.
Thy loot-dom come, thy will be done,
In missions, as it is in the drop table.
Give us thee our needed chances,
    And forgive us our insanity.
As we forgive those, who hunt against us,
And lead us not into disconnected sessions.
    Amen.

Tried to make a Grineer styled Warframe. How'd I do?

[New War Spoilers] For the final choice, who did you choose, and why?

    Posted: 20 Jan 2022 03:21 AM PST

I chose for the Lotus to stay... well, The Lotus. It felt wrong to have her (or her character) revert back to someone she no longer was. ("Natah was the daughter until I destroyed her. Now I am the Lotus. Now I am the mother") As for Margulis ... even though the Lotus took her likeness and voice to help comfort the Tenno into the new world after the Second Dream, she never was her. Again, it felt wrong to make her act like someone she wasn't.

But I am curious to see other people's reasoning behind their decisions (other than 'hhhh Margulis hot")

Release caged animals into the camp

    Posted: 20 Jan 2022 09:07 AM PST

I think we should be allowed to release our caged animals we buy from Teshin into the Drifter camp and have them run around. The same could be done with fish into the lake and river. Imagine how fun building an ecosystem could be! (Also how great it would be if we could scale them like decorations lol).

(Also, this isn't worth a full post, but you can clip under the water in the Drifter camp in decoration mode, and you can fly to see the entire orbiter which is incredibly detailed, which probably means we'll have access to it at some point. I won't be posting my video here, but I have one to send)

Edit: Ah yes, the great conservationist known as Teshin. That Teshin sure does love his Kuakas.

TIL there's a kill count cap

    Posted: 20 Jan 2022 09:04 AM PST

So I was watching this streamer doing an endurance run and she hit the kill cap, flopping her kills back over to 0.

Warframe uses 16-bit to count your kills, making the max 65535.

here's the clip where her kills flopped over: https://www.twitch.tv/dullxaoc/clip/SullenLightLionTwitchRaid-7wrypA2ggdCQ85pB

She's still streaming, but take note that the stream is Jp only.

"Floating Omen" - A Warframe short story

    Posted: 20 Jan 2022 04:37 AM PST

Note: I am a new player so I really don't have much to work with - as of now - in terms of narrative. That's why this story might come across as a bit 'cliché' for some of you. But I still had to write it down and hope you guys like it.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sol had just peaked over the mountains flanking the Plains of Eidolon when Pupitak, carrying a Nosam Cutter in his left hand and a bag to carry all the minerals he would find in his right one, left the peaceful town of Cetus.

Suumbaat had asked him to mine for some valuable gems and considering everything that the old man had already done for him, he had accepted. Fortunately, there had been fewer and fewer sightings of Grineer on the Plains and many scouts had reported that the number of attacks on outposts had increased in the past weeks. Pupitak had also heard rumors about the cause of these irregularities: a warrior from a bygone era.

    A ghost.

But Pupitak knew better. He knew that the only thing that persisted from the Old War, besides Unum and Gara, were the mistakes of the Orokin - mistakes for which they were no longer here to answer for. Like the 'warrior', the Orokin were ghosts as well.

So, whether or not he believed in ghosts, he did what he had set out to do in the first place: he mined for gems and minerals for Suumbaat, avoiding attention from potential remaining Grineer patrols and returning home to his son and wife.

    ***

The morning was going really well for Pupitak, as he was close to filling his bag with gems. He was humming a song someone had told him that was sung across the stars when he heard a little cry. He stopped what he was doing and was about to run for Cetus when he realized the sound didn't come from a Grineer patrol but from a child. He got up and ran to a nearby rock and found his five-year-old son hiding behind it. He had fallen and scraped his knee and was holding it between his hands as if that would help with the pain.

"What do you think you're doing here?" he asked.

    "I…" the child cried.

Pupitak put a finger in front of his mouth. His son sniveled a bit but lowered his voice. "I… I wanted to come with you".

"But you know it's dangerous. I've told you this", Pupitak said, looking over the child's knee. It was just a flesh wound and nothing serious, thankfully. "C'mon, let's get you home".

"Please, let me stay with you".

"I was just about to leave. We're going home".

"You're always telling me we're going to see the fish. Please, I promise if you show me the fish, I'll never leave the town unless you let me".

Pupitak mulled it over for a bit. In over three hours, he had found no trace of the Grineer. Maybe there was no better time to fulfill his promise than now. "Fine, but we have to be quick. And no wandering around, yes?"

The child nodded happily, unable to hide a huge grin from his face. Pupitak could feel his face brighten up as well. His son was the light of his life. There was nothing he wouldn't do for him and seeing that smile had the power to wipe away any worries he had. "Let's go". He grabbed his son by the hand and took him to the nearest lake. Luckily, there would be fish there. Maybe they would find a Tralok or Goopolla. That would be nice.

As soon as they started walking, his son grabbed an object from inside his tunic and took it out. It was an old toy made from junk Pupitak had found lying around on Cetus. He had made it look like the images of Gara. Another ghost.

Finally, they arrived at the lake and didn't have to wait long before they started seeing several fish aimlessly swimming around. His son's face lighted up even more and if Pupitak hadn't stopped him, he would've jumped into the water. "Look, Dad, look. That's a big one!"

"Yes, that is a big…" Pupitak stopped when he noticed something else floating in the lake. It was a beautiful flower but one he had never seen around Cetus. Its fragile purple petals were on top of green leaves that sat delicately on the lake's surface. Again, the stories from the Old War washed over him like a flood. The flower meant something. He didn't know its name or its meaning but something was about to…

An explosion right above them. A Grineer ship was in flames and before it crashed on the ground, several Grineer were able to jump to safety, guns pointed at the sky. Pupitak grabbed his son, hid behind a rock, and lowered himself so that only their heads and necks were outside of the water. Then, the gunshots came. The Grineer were shooting someone… something. Pupitak tried a peek at the battlefield near them, where a gray shadow was jumping in the middle of the Grineer.

    The ghost. He was real.

He moved with a fluidity Pupitak had never seen a living thing manifest. The Grineer shouted at each other trying to corner the ghost but Pupitak could already tell they wouldn't be able to. He recalled the legends of Gara and knew that the ghost was a force of nature and nothing could ever tame it.

With time, the shouting Grineer fell one by one. Some by blade, others by bullets. And in what seemed only a heartbeat, the battle was over. The ghost stood over the corpses of his enemy, his blade still in his hand, blood dripping from the tip to the grassy floor. Now that he was still, Pupitak could tell that the ghost was humanoid, his face covered by a helmet shaped like a horn. Suddenly, he turned his face toward Pupitak and his son. Before they could hide again, a Grineer left the crashed ship and charged against the ghost. Out of nowhere, a big brown beast leapt and killed the Grineer. The ghost didn't break his stride and upon reaching Pupitak, he sheathed his sword and knelt in front of them, lending a hand. He helped Pupitak and his son out of the lake and, without uttering a single word, he walked away, his beast walking beside him.

At that moment, Pupitak had the urge to look back at the flower on the lake but it was gone. The Lotus, he recalled. Half of a dyad. An omen for the warriors of blade and gun of Old. Whoever was inside that armor would keep fighting to free the system of the Grineer and all the other factions that used the fall of the Orokin as an opportunity to seize power and hurt innocent people.

The rumors were true. The spirits of the Old War had been awakened.

    The Tenno were back.
