Vitality, Gaming, Health, and Community study (approved by mods) Posted: 24 Mar 2022 11:28 AM PDT Hello! My name is Enrico Gandolfi and I am a junior faculty at Kent State University (https://www.kent.edu/ehhs/tlcs/dr-enrico-gandolfi). I have been working on Vitality, Gaming, Health, and Community building. Some of my articles about these topics follow below: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/jcal.12663 https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1177/14614448211027171?ai=1gvoi&mi=3ricys&af=R I am posting here for inviting you to participate in a voluntary research study about online gaming, community, and vitality regarding Warframe. My objective is to explore if and how in-game practices are influenced by empathy, social bonding, and toxicity. Participation includes the participation in the following anonymous questionnaire addressing these topics. It would take 10 minutes of your time. https://kent.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_7U4y66pjIGredee If you would like additional information about this study, please contact me at [egandol1@kent.edu](mailto:egandol1@kent.edu). Thank you for your consideration, and once again, please do not hesitate to send me an email if you are interested in learning more about this Institutional Review Board approved project. I would be happy to share a summary of the results with you all and the subreddit after data analysis. Stay well and safe! Adversaries do not feel like adversaries Posted: 24 Mar 2022 09:44 AM PDT Lich/Sister/Adversary/Nemesis or whatever they're meant to be called feel lacking. While I was not active when they first released, I think the system actually regressed when they became limited to just one planet at a time. As the adversaries are based on the nemesis system they should feel like a big threat to you and seeing them slowly take over the system would contribute to that. If I have an adversary active I want to be concerned about whether or not I'll be ambushed at any time rather than going out of my way to seek them out. Treating them like your own personal invasion would be far more engaging than what we have now. However, it is my understanding that the changes made were due to the players wanting them to be easily farmed. So while I disagree with this stance I can accept that I might be a minority. On the other side of this issue though is that converted adversaries don't do much. They have a small chance to show up on the rare occasion you die. That's nice and I like seeing them when it happens but I don't think it's enough. You could put them on your railjack but they are objectively worse than normal crew. I would propose new missions that come from your new friends. Every so often a player would get an alert saying that one of their converted adversaries found something interesting and needs a bit of help getting it. You hop in the mission and your friend is there waiting much like Clem in the weekly missions. Maybe they have some mission control dialogue too so they don't feel lifeless. I'm not sure what the rewards should be but I would take anything just to show that they are trying to help us after swearing their allegiance. Hell, those missions could even be used to power them up in some way so that they eventually can be better than a normal crew mate. Another potential use could be some kind of siege mission where you are either assaulting or defending a fortress. The mission would give off the impression of a large scale battle where you want a large amount of allies. Here you would be able to bring a handful of converted adversaries. Whether or not they are actually on the ground fighting with you the whole time or they are just assigned to key parts of the mission is irrelevant to me. I just want them to feel useful.
